using a digital camera housing for a ppo2 meter

Hi all,

I am comming back with my housing concerns for my ppo2 circuits.
as anybody tried to use a translucid digital camera housing to gt his circuit in ?
there are plenty for cheap because after 2 years the camra don' exista any more for 50€ one can get a brabd new houssing.
they are depth limited but i think we could double depth if we don't us the buttons .

regards

Re: using a digital camera housing for a ppo2 meter

Depending on what you are looking for…
Ikelite sells parts (buttons and glands) and more than a few styles of cases.
Recently, Ikelite cases have been moving faster than the digital cameras and Ikelite is limiting production run of digital cases. I was looking for an Olympus SP320 case and they are already out of production from Ikelite.

There are a few other options. I have seen people use old battery canister cases and in a few cases people have seemed to use Lexan food containers with new hinges. Depends on what is available and the size that you need.

A few people have shown in this section their version of such work.

Good luck, Andrew

I agree it is a total pain...

If you are looking for electronics “ppO2 and voting logic” there are a few commercial choices that have just popped onto the market.

Shearwater computer- it will read 3 cells, I think the estimate is $1300.00US.
www.rebreather.ca

Deep Diving is doing 3 sensor package with voting logic.
I am guessing at $800.00Aussie or $600.00US.
http://www.deepdiving.net/

HS explorer and the VR3 but both are single O2 sensors.

Plus Paul has a PPo2 unit out called a 'rEvo' an that is anywhere from one to three sensors; if my memory is serving me right.

For homebrewed stuff- there is some great stuff by Scuba Vixen…

Good luck, Andrew

Re: using a digital camera housing for a ppo2 meter

hello Andrew, the rEvo is the rebreather we produce

the PPO2 gauge we make is called the rEvodream (and is offcourse used on our rEvo)

the rEvodream reads 2 cells (or only one if you want and change the settings), is always equipped with a HUD, fully settable and possible to calibrate without opening, no push-buttoms at all (completely shock-switch operated)

Re: using a digital camera housing for a ppo2 meter

Paul,
Thank you for the correction.
No harm was meant and sorry for misunderstanding your product sir.

Thank you for producing the rEvo it is very interesting rebreather. I like the design characteristics that you have developed.

Regards, Andrew

++++ hi again,
in fact I bought the tecm tube gauge, and don't need to buy anything else , it is just that i would lie to use my digital voting logic circuit ant that I have no hossing to do so.
but tecme as also realeased a photo of a new digital gauge...SOON ON THE MARKET THAT WOULD RENDER USELESS MY OWN circuit....
so I am still looking for a houssing...

Re: using a digital camera housing for a ppo2 meter

For a DIY project, I think it'll be hard to beat a canister light battery canister with a plain flat lid to house your electronics in.

Make use of something where the R&D and manufacturing learning curve has already been completed.
