| Re: The G1 rebreather Er, well, Shell-Back, I think what Dave meant was that the G1 rebreather is a Dead Dog. But in fact that is not quite correct. The G1 rebreather is in fact a Live Dog, as is its owner. And the Bible assures us that "A live dog is better than a dead lion". The accident reports being full of sad cases of Dead Lions - even some who were diving the mighty Cis - I wish us all, dogs and lions both, a safe year of diving. By the way many thanks to SINUS for taking flattery to absurd but wonderful extremes! Just off for my Sunday dive, Cheers, Charles. |

My implication was ugly as it was it was still a dog and loved by it's owner. No disrespect intended."A live dog is better than a dead lion". | Re: The G1 rebreather A sterling demonstration of both the desire to surmount obstacles that is the core of every rebreather diver and the grit that allowed the Brits to triumph over the Hun in WW2. You Sir, are a legend.

| Re: The G1 rebreather The use of socks in scrubber design has a fine and glorious history. I belive the Apollo 13 astronauts used socks to rebuild round Command Module scrubbers so they fitted into square LEM holes. If its good enough for NASA I see no reason for us to turn our noses up at the idea (provided the socks are clean) Simon |

| Blogs Admin / Forum Mod ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: The G1 rebreather solocavediver, If only the pictures were as good as your designs ![]() Have some green ... Awesome! And it even includes a spinach can ... Have you seen this before: Hah! Easy! (Bearing in mind that the simplest form is an O2 rebreather) An institutional-sized flip-top tin of Milo; the bladder from a very large winecask; the filter pads from a home aquarium system; old bits of rope cut-up and soaked in potash; and - based on a straightforward pendulum-system of a single hose- a few pieces of pool filter hoses, (the larger bore is better than the garden hose!) Then attach a front-mounted O2 cylinder that you can throttle by hand! Posted recently by David Strike on www.diveoz.com (http://www.diveoz.com.au/discussion_...TOPIC_ID=12636) All the best with your truly unique Rebreather! ![]()

My God! - so that scene in the movie where they're making a new scrubber out of bits - in real life they ended up using SOCKS!!! - and you realise those socks would have been holding in - wait for it - LITHIUM HYDROXIDE!!!! Must have been good socks to begin with.. I still remember everyone watching the TV in a local newsagent when they were trying to land Apollo 13. And being glad when they made it.I belive the Apollo 13 astronauts used socks to rebuild round Command Module scrubbers so they fitted into square LEM holes. | Re: The G1 rebreather HI Charles ![]() I think this rebreather puts you into the homebuilders Hall of Fame! Do you have any pictures of you actually wearing the rig? When reading all this articles about accidents with high-end multi computer units, I just can't help the feeling that homebuilders are somehow the safer crowd. Not better looking (definitely not) but they usually know their stuff and don't just strap an expensive box on their back Jens |
