| Nylatron GSM vs Aluminium, Nylon,PVC or Delrin allo .... I ve been looking for an alternative to Aluminiums,PVC or Delrins. has anyone used ''Nylatron GSM'' for a canister, handset or other water-proof projects ? Nylatron GSM seems to be a better choice than Nylon,PVC or Delrin, on paper (see atached pdf) This Nylatron GSM is a material used to make bushes, gears, sprockets etc, in the ship building industry(loyds approved) It is light, pretty scratchproof, more impact resistant than PVC, works till -30degC a dream to work with and Pretty damn expensive too at around the same price for Aluminium 6061( ROD od 75mm costs $3/cm )Supplier says it is ''superior to delrin'' but suppliers also say many things and other opinions always helps, right ?After what I learned from vixen's delrin incident, my main concern is water absorption (65ml/24hrs) and porosity. Other than this, NylatronGSM looks and feels wicked !! Machinists, engineers, DiYers, material freaks and other hybrids of deepdiving junkies, I would greatly appreciate your feedback ![]() 10Q p.s I doubt this thread in the right place, donno where else to put it ! | Re: Nylatron GSM vs Aluminium, Nylon,PVC or Delrin It is just a nylon resin with molydenum disulphide particles as a lube mixed in....that is the only reason why it is used in moving parts applications. Lloyds approval is meaningless. Waste of $ if you ask me..... |
