| Hey Dave! Good to see you are still around. Between you and Dr. Bob I am not sure who to blame for my sickness So what's new in your neck of the woods? Any new developments with the C96/minimum Rebreather project? Any plans to update the website? Glad to have you aboard! Rob |

| Re: Hey Dave! Well..... I'm back on a trial basis with mixed feelings. I really was pretty glad to get away from the ego-centric nonsense that ruined my participation previously, but there are a few good folks around so maybe it's time to offer a few tidbits again from the Little Diveshop of Horrors. Have been as busy as ever, lots of neat projects have passed over the bench but I've been quiet about them for a while. The first time that I take any flame-war crap for anything I'm history...... I don't need to spend time defending my methods, do not need to waste effort dealing with people who have their own political agendas to put forth, and just want to go diving and have fun. No time for stress in my life. Just de-select pea-brained weenies from my screen and I'll be OK... ;-). OK, now that I've vented (pun intended...) The OMG chest mounted rigs have proven themselves well. The C-96 Pro has a very good scrubber as compared to the old C-96, really takes it to a different level. I've found that it makes a good bailout loop when clippd to the front of any decent back-mounted rig, sharing the origila rigs loop gas supplies (02 and diluent) thru quick disconnect lines. Best on non-OTS counterlung rigs such as the Mark-15 for physical reasons. Have built a series of modular items that allow me to dip into a big box-o-parts and grab the correct modules to plug and play to make the correct rig for the correct day. Loops (back and chest), 02 feed system, diluent feed system, and sensor systems are all plug-compatable. (1): I can grab the chest-loop, a single sensor display, and a manual 02 feed system and have a light 02 only rig for photographing in 30 feet of water. (2): Unplug the single cell PP02 meter, plug on the 3 cell one, and add a 1 litre diluent module and it's a chest mounted CCR good for no-deco type of diving to perhaps 130 feet. (3) Naturally, it would be best then to unplug the manual 02 feed module and replace it with the KISS-type 0 feed module.... (4):Unplug it all and toss it back in the box and wait for next weekend. (5): Deeper that weekend? Grab the back-mounted loop, the same 02 feed system, the same multi-cell PP02 meter, and the same diluent feed system and plug it together (in 5 minutes) and the rig now is a fully capable system with much larger scrubber and counterlung volumes. (6): Deeper yet? Plug the original chest-mounted loop back on the harness and I've got a back mounted primary loop as well as a chest-mounted bailout loop. (7): Even deeper? Replace the "Green" back loop with the "Yellow" back loop and it's good to far further than human physiology will tolerate. It's a good system, has been tested for several years now, but has been kept under wraps except for my local "line of sight" diving community because I have not been in a publicity mode since I split from rebreather society for the aformentioned reasons. One of the nicest little components of the entire system is a PP02 cell probe that I made that (1): fits thru a P-Connector. (2) Folds internally inside the counterlung so that it does not "tent-pole" the lung. (3): Carries (3) cells, (2) feeding KISS wrist displays and (1) feeding a VR-3 (and yes I still use the old "brick" and like it better than the new small VR-3). (4): Contains the diluent feed port as well, with a quick-disconnect fitting (standad BC fitting) so that the one P-connector doubles as a diluent feed port as well as an 02 metering port. (5): Has the diluent feed thru a clear Tygon tube which lays over the faces of the cells with small pinholes placed so that each manual diluent addition also flows a small volume of diluent across the sensor faces to keep them dynamic and able to be seen working and for sensor "reality checks" when needed. (6): Can also be used as an 02 injection point for rigs that don't have a second point installed for that purpose. Basically this system can be carried up to any rig with a P-Connector, be stuck into it, and the system used as a CCR "in a minute" ... ;-). If the rig has a second P-Connector (think Dolphin) I have an 02 module that plugs into that second port for KISS 02 injection, meaning that when I happen to stumble onto a Dolphin I simply "Plug module A into Port Y, Plug module B into Port Z, and go diving...." ;-) Modularity is the key to happiness..... photos if/when I feel like it. I will likely never update the website. I'd prefer to offer advice in real-time to people who take the time to correspond. Plus I cannot remember the password to FTP changes to the site.... ;-) Best to all, Dave Sutton . . . .

We try to keep the riff raff off the board, so you shouldn't have problems with flame wars and like crap. Several members with less tolerance for that than rebreathers in the back room. ![]() If you want to write about any of your projects and post some pics with it you can always send them to Louby- Lou, she takes care of the library. Probably less work than getting it on your own side. ![]() The modular system sounds intresting, especially the 3 cell/dil injection combo. You realize just about every homebuilder is drooling by now. ![]()

| Re: Hey Dave! Thanks, Stefan, appreciate the kind words. As for the add port/3 cell holder: drool on.... The photo shows it before I wired in the cells (K1D's), and with a straight BC inflator nipple installed in the gas add port. In use I add a 90 degree swivel so the add gas line and the cables all present at a 90 degree angle to the axis of the unit. The sensor array swings thru a 90 degree angle so the sensors dont tent-pole the counterlung. Not installed whe n the photo was taken is the clear plastic tube that distributes a small portion of the added diluent over the sensor faces, but this is enough to show the basics. Repeat after me: "Delrin is my friend...." "With a file and enough time I can make a lathe.... with a lathe I can make the world" Dave Sutton

| Re: Hey Dave! Hello, Dave We have spoke before many years ago via email, I do enjoy seeing your projects come to life. Please, do add some project reports and or new fan-dangles to the RBW. I would also like to officially welcome you on behalf of FIGJAM committee members , we are always interested in minds like yours.

| Re: Hey Dave! OK, I give up, what's FIGJAM? Sounds like something I'd spread on bread.... if I were constipated. "Toll the bell, call up the ghosts, summon out the lifesavers and the pirates. The shoals are there still, the winds howl loud, the rain beats down, the waves burst strong. Some night, in the chill darkness, someone will make a mistake: The sea will show him no mercy". | Re: Hey Dave! I apologize for the surreptitious welcome, I am not allowed to divulge that information on the board and would be inherently removing some candidates from becoming honored award winners if I did. So that no further speculation is encouraged , I can neither confirm nor deny any of the present or former committee members had anything to do with the following:
