ss casings for potted electronics hi guys I found some stainless box section 3x6 for molds for my handsets. The mold will be bonded to the hand set and will probably add ss bezels. The test with just straight acrylic resins did not seem to be strong enough for continued use. After calling all around the states for 4 inches of it and only finding 20 ft lenghts for sale, i found a guy that has 10 feet of it in town and will sell by the inch. so if anybody want to try this give me a buzz, and i will help getting you small sections. ps finally got the max 494 op amps in ordered 495s at first, opps. so can finish testing the amp and head circuits. cables should arrive from amron in the morning so this weekend will try to get the handset ready for the pot. rick m

Re: ss casings for potted electronics Just out of curiosity, you say that the resin only method did not provide enough strength. How did you determine this? Was there not enough rigidity? Would the resin wear down on the edges/face? Thanks, Rob PS. what microncontroller/language are you using? I just bought some stuff from parallax and am playing around with Pbasic.

Re: ss casings for potted electronics rob Tried urathane because they told me it would work and not yellow but not rigid enough to machine. the acrylic is hard enough but without protection i was worried about cracking if dropped. i am programing in vb due to the complier i have. using the lcdx controller. and i2c comm to the head for sensors. have an ear infection from delta diving so it is time to get back to work on this project. rick m
