| Re: extending a Ray scrubber One thing to bear in mind is that the cross section of the Ray and the central tube have quite a small area, extending it too much might increase the work of breathing by a lot.

| Re: extending a Ray scrubber Yes I imagine that 50% more length is the maximum, but the question was about the matérial, not any thought? |

| Re: extending a Ray scrubber The reason I mentioned it was that I'd thought about doing it to mine a while ago. My idea was to cut the ends off the can and fit sort of an elongated plastic sleeve in between the two ends and epoxy them in place. Ideally I suppose you would want a plastic with similar proeprties to the original can, you certainly do not want a plastic that will absorb water as it will warp/expand. You'd also want an epoxy that would resist both water and cold, I guess chemical attack from the lime too. McMaster-Carr www.mcmaster.com have very good plastics stock mail order and good data pages too. RS (rswww.com) do a good range of industrial adhesives and epoxies and again their data pages are very good. Don't forget that you need to find something to extend the central dip tube too. The Ray has a very nice scrubber (I think better than the Dolphin) but unfortunately it is just too small as standard. Good luck with it.

| Re: extending a Ray scrubber Naaaa, it’s a new idea for you; that is what is important! Least your mind does work, mine is just plain nutty. I have been starring at everything from preexisting light canister as possible canisters to Acrylic, Lexan, Schedule 80, HPDE- blah, blah, blah. You know the funny thing- its just fun to think about how all this works. Keep after it, and lets all share ideas. Andrew Quote: (Originally Posted by Marc T) Difficult to have a really new idea!!
