New Rebreather - Thanks for the help!

I wanted to say thanks for all the great information on this site. I've been lurking, reading and researching since I joined in Nov. figuring out how to do many of the things I needed to do to make my first time homebuilder.

Scrubber design, eCCR, mCCR, electronics, O2 monitoring this site has it all!

It's not in final form but I've got the first trial built and pool tested. I've got a few adjustments to make already where hoses run etc, try some different scrubber configurations, exchange a few pieces with upgraded designs - but it works as planned and I should be able to strap it on with some tanks and test it in OW tomorrow.

Our design is an inherently stable Trimix RMV-SCR ratio-dump hybrid at about 12:1 and running from bakgas diluent. Slung off the side of doubles with quick disconnects and the counterlung parallel to the lung on the left side like a stage. We're using a "THE VALVE" DSV and a regulator ADV and a single PPO2 sensor in LED read thru the clear top of the phlenum.

We've named it the "FaF" for "Fire and Forget" (as in milatary weapons). Jill Heinerth warnned us that "FaF" in the UK, Australia etc is common slang for "complete and utter **** up" which is pretty funny also - so we're definitly keeping it.

So here's a picture of our baby:

I ordered mine from gagne inc - custom bellows to order. About $40-$60 each, 4-6 weeks. I'm still waiting on my latest order actually. I ordered the first set from McMaster-Carr but they didn't really have the dimensions and materials I wanted.

Another query about the bellows - what material did you choose? Are the edges reinforced to keep the diameter and stop them collapsing the "wrong way"?

Thanks,
Neil

bellows

We went with Translucent Polyurethane which I reinforced with stainless steel spring wire rings. Without the wire supports the bellows would collapse against the water pressure. Also we used clear PVC on the phlenum, scrubber and bellews guard. (I think I'd like to put clear PVC piping as well on my next build).
