![]() | Home rebreather help I'm in the process of making a home made rebreather. I had some question about O2 addition and monitoring. what's the pro/cons with swagelok metering valve? Has anyone used the pelagian meter valve for home made breathers? The other question is how to monitor the system. I'm trying to use three sensors, can anyone point to a readout system that's off the shelf? Thanks, Much appreciated |

My first thought is that you should abandon the idea of using a needle valve as your first attempt, and start with a fixed orifice. Its cheaper, simpler and there's fewer things that can go wrong. AFAIK there's no compelling reason for you to use a needle valve and I sincerely hope you don't intend to go so very deep soon that you'll exceed the limits of the standard fixed IP/orifice setup! On the subject of PPO2 monitoring I'd strongly suggest you read Dale Bletso's article titled "One, two, three, four, what's the magic number?" (How many sensors) and then you look at the options in terms of PPO2 monitors. On the cheaper end there's Mark Munroes' at PPO2.com and on the more expensive/fancy end there's things like the rEvoDream and the Delta-P Universal rebreather monitor, etc. HTH rgds monty |
