| DSV for IDA 71 OK its time for me to get a DSV for my IDA 17. Any recommendations? What DSV? What hoses? Something that will fit directly on to the existing fittings would be good but I can make up adaptors is needed. What about the Ray DSV and hoses that Tecme sells for E240? Whats the specs on the gear you have on your AKA Ray? Anyone want to buy a IDA DSV with 2 set of hoses?

| Re: DSV for IDA 71 Martin does Ray DSV and hoses and also delrin adapters to fit them to IDA-71's. Mine is Abyss from Rebreathers Australia. Their spiral hoses were AU$55 each and the big-bore DSV was AU$225 and postage was AU$30. The hoses were about 3" too short on my rig so I extended my copper couplings.

I've also found that my hoses are too short and the DSV tends to be uncomfortable in my mouth. Have you a photo or description of your extended copper couplings? Hank

| Re: DSV for IDA 71 Ray hoses and DSV is ideal. I use them on just about everything, and they are super on the IDA-71. The old DSV makes a nice paperweight. Dave .

| Re: DSV for IDA 71 Hi Ray, Hi Hank, I started with standard copper plumbing 1" elbows at 135 deg coming from the fittings on the top of the counterlung, still using the original russian backnut. These were flared out to 1.5" to meet the Abyss hoses and are as per the photo below, I've drawn a white line to show the original elbow angle. I've now gone to almost 90 degrees and added 3" straight copper extensions over my wing so now the Abyss hoses start almost from my shoulder. I moved the Oxycheck covers back towards the elbows since the copper extensions looked a bit rude. I've also found that my hoses are too short and the DSV tends to be uncomfortable in my mouth. Have you a photo or description of your extended copper couplings? Hank I still think copper is ok. I would be a bit worried having big chunks of delrin like some of Martins external cell holders etc sticking up over my shoulders. I think they're too vulnerable. Copper will take a few dings and not be a problem.

| Re: DSV for IDA 71 Will the ray hoses go directly on to the ida fittings? No but you can make new spools to replace the old ones and re-use the nuts. The spool is what the hose slips over. Make larger diameter ones and reuse the nuts. I used PVC rod and it took a half hour on the lathe. In fact, see: Franken-Son DSV and Hoses All is revealed there. You can right click the pics and then save them, re-open them with any photo program and zoom in. High Res photos. Let's see... those photos cannot be more than 7 years old... ![]() Dave .

| Re: DSV for IDA 71 Ray, the only issue I have with copper is corossion. As you know I am currently using copper in my IDA but what I am thinking of doing is applying a thin layer of silver solder over the copper. Shouldnt be to hard with a decent torch.

| Monty Guest Current Rebreather/s: | Re: DSV for IDA 71 I put KISS hoses and a KISS BOV on my IDA-71 and it works a treat! In order to get the outside diameter increased for the hoses to fit nicely I put a rubber sleeve over the existing IDA spools. rgds monty |

Greg, it will discolour but it is unlikely to corrode in a hurry. Copper tubing is used extensively on older boats to provide heat-exchange to the sea for engine coolant by running long lengths of it along the outside of the hull.Copper survives in salt water for decades. You could get the parts professionally electroplated for cosmetics.
