| New Member Current Rebreather/s: | Ray in ccr I noticed last night when I was browsing TechMe's site that there are now 3 sensor holders availible for the Ray Scrubber. I have one I am converting to an mCCR at the moment and I am not even thinking about using the scrubber as I believe it would be highly restictive to breathing efficiency. Just wondering if anyone has used one of these scrubbers for CCR and if so how was the WOB and what sort of time can you get off such a small canister??? Paul |

| Born Again Diver! ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Ray in ccr Hi Paul Drager rates it for 110 mins in warmer water, and as an SCR the breathing isn't that bad is it? I have 1 and 3/4 that I will be closing just as soon as I get around to it. I have all the rest of teh stuff I need. I like Martin's mod. He amazies me in producing solutions. I don't think anyone else has taken the time to put so many differnt thoughts to market. He must just love fiddling! Cheers Dave

| Re: Ray in ccr Hi Paul, maybe you have seen this. Mike Wescombe-Down CCRay He used the new sensor holder. He also stated the time he can get out of the scrubber. PoseidonSv has build a CCR with a Ray Scrubber. http://www.rebreatherworld.com/home-...nd-tested.html I have only used the Ray once as CCR. I was happy with the WOB in this try. The only thing I notice was that at the end of the dive where the BC was almost empty it seems that the size of the CL have been restricted. The ADV was firing almost every breath. I was using 8kg of lead and two 2l steels. Cheers! Christian |

| Re: Ray in ccr I used the guts of a Ray in a couple of homebuilds. A backmounted Rebreather: rb_views and a sidemount unit: http://www.lizardland.co.uk/RB/RB_Pr.../311004-02.jpg I never had a stock Ray so couldn't say what the WOB was like. However, I think the scrubber is far too small for CCR use. It only holds 1.25kg of lime and I had breakthrough a few times a LOT quicker than the manufacturers data, 30min on some dives and it is easy to overbreathe it. It is however a nicely made little scrubber despite the short lifespan, there is space in the head above the top screen for two R17/R22 cells and you can easily put a bulkhead fitting for the wiring in the top of the lid. I keep it now in the car as an oxygen rebreather rather than carrying an oxygen kit for emergencies. The FGT scrubber looks a bit more realistic as an "off the shelf" unit (if you can find one), looks superficially like a scaled up Ray can.

| New Member Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Ray in ccr I also found with my ray that the adv fired often, i finally tracked it down to the counterlungs being heavily restricted. I have not dived the unit since and it sits in a lot of pieces. I may have to reassemble the little unit and try again, or more likely i will canabalise it and use it for parts for a new homebuild. Thanks for your help everyone |

| Re: Ray in ccr Ray o2 safety ccr thats a real good idea stuart, any details please? Nothing fancy:![]() Some parts should look familiar ![]() The dump on the ABLJ was replaced by a p-port where the scrubber plugs in, one end of the loop hose goes to another p-port on the ABLJ, other end is on the scrubber. Plug O2 in at the inflator for the ABLJ and just manually add when the lung gets tight. I'd built it originally thinking I could use it as a manual SCR for bailout, it worked but it was all a bit bulky. So now I can wear it whilst driving myself to the pot the next time I get bent rather than an ally 80 in the back and a 2m hose ![]()

| Re: Ray in ccr I have the problem only in the shallow part of the dive. The deeper part was fine. I guess because of the BC was filled a bit. Christian |

Thanks for your help everyone Little secret with the Ray CL size issue is just not try to tighten the shoulders strap of the BCD.Mine in CCR have two sensor in the head with a lumberg connector on top.Only one tank on the rig at the normal place ( can be O2 or dil ) and the other sidemounted ( sidefloating in fact ).Small rig dont worth a big project.next project for this one is putting a dolphin scrubber at the tank place ( can hold two sensors inside too ) but not sure its worth the pain because of small CL so again small siezd rig dont worth a big project, stay small and simpiest as possible. |
