Best size sorb for IDAs/AKAs

OK I have finally completed stage 1 of my IDA71 conversion and it is ready to dive as a pure O2 CMF system.
Im using a single square scrubber cannister with a perferated plate on the bottom end. The pefferations are about 2mm diameter.

Hi

This is how I used the square scrubber:

If you go for the polishing pads make sure to get the ones without any added polishing wax or things like that!

Re: Best size sorb for IDAs/AKAs

I’ve not tried the square scrubber, just the oval one. I’ve used Dragersorb (dusty!), Grace 4-8, Grace 6-12, Sofnolime 4-8, and Sofnolime 8-12 in my ’71. Difference in WOB was hard to detect. The much talked about over breathing potential of the scrubber seemed to me to be somewhat less, but definitely still there, w/ the Sofnolime 8-12.

Hey Greg, I'm using 2.5 - 5.0 Sofnolime in the AKA-60.

BTW, I did respond to your PM the other day but your PM area is full and it bounced. I'd like to do the pool next Tuesday if you are going with the IDA.

Re: Best size sorb for IDAs/AKAs

OK. I got some 2.0-5.0mm Sofnolime. The square scrubber took at least half of a 4.5kg pack. I recall reading the oval ones took 1.8KGs so the the square one is a little bigger or did I miss read it and it was 1.8 litres? This pack looks like its about 4 litres? Any one have an opinion on how much pool time I can do with one fill of sofnoline? Dave , Ray are you guys still keen for tomorrow night?

Re: Best size sorb for IDAs/AKAs

Yeah mate, I'm still on, I just finished gasing the Orca and loading it in the truck. My scrubber takes exactly half of one of those sofnolime packs, about 2.2 kg. That amount is good for at least 3 hours and possibly 4. I typically end up only doing 2 hours before chucking it as that's all the diving my lifestyle will allow.

Don't forget to book the pool through Global. Grant reminded me on Friday. You're not s'posed to just show up...

I'm bringing my UW camera to get some shots of your spetznatz rig.
