drilling a 30mm hole in a pvc tube

Hi ,

I am building my sensor holder, I use a pcv fitting ( diameter 75mm ).

I must drill a 30m hole in this pvc tube to insert the pipes on which I mount the breathing hoses .

what sort of tool would you use ?

regards

jean mi

An Arbored hole saw, like this. A fined tooth pitch would be a good idea.

Hi

thanks for info, in fact I used a comparable tool, but it was not deep enough the cut the entire tickness ot the pvc tube .
I have trill the tube on it's side and the enven if the tube tickness is only 1cm
the tool botton touches the top part of the tube before the drilling is finished.
mabye could I find a longer tool to avoid this problem but I am not sure.

unfortunately my lathe is too small to mount the tube on a plate in orger to drill it and then making the hole bigger .

well not easy.

regards

I'm sorry. I didn't spot the diameter of your pipe. I would use a Brace and bit then. Like this:

Toolsnstuff: Draper 13840 CARPENTERS RATCHET BRACE BRACES - Carpenters Tools -

Toolsnstuff: Sealey AB13 Sealey SLYAB13 Auger Bit 13 x 230mm Drill Bits - Power

Re: drilling a 30mm hole in a pvc tube

why not just throw the pipe in a vice and use a 30mm drill bit?

Following on another yank's humor, I would suggest asking Mark Chase about this - apparently he drills holes in EVERYTHING!

(sorry Mark - I couldn't resist either! )

John, you never cease to crack me up!

Mark is going to label you an axis of evil with all the other hole conspirators!

great idea, i did'nt know 30mm ones existed, I've already used this kind of tool to bore a piece of epoxy resin (with no charge in) on the lathe rather to do it with a boring tool.
in epoxy it worked perfect I'll try in pvc if I find a 30 mm one in france, the problem is to translate the tool name in french to look for it on the internet and find a french shop.

thanks a lot for info
