| digital nomad Current Rebreather/s: | Sidemount Rebreather (BOB in the works) I just wanted to share with you this: I just love Rebreather World ! This place is a real asset for divers, instructors, homebuilders and the industry. Here is a little baby I put together a couple of months ago with ideas pulled from the forum threads. ![]() It is a sidemount O2 mCCR based on Duncan’s D5 concept. The cost was very low (<100 EUR) since I already had the CMF valve assembly and tank from my IDA. The rest of the components comprise a recycled Buddy DSMB, an old Apeks valve from an *ancient* Polar Bears suit and bits that were left over from my IDA71 when I converted it to mCCR. (DSV, hoses, spare canister). The CNC work to make the mouthpiece adaptor for the Russian DSV, the male P-port connectors and the delrin tube were all machined by a friend for free. Drager p-ports and the IDA to p-port adapters came from Martin at tecme.de The size is similar to S80 stage tanks and the whole thing sits very snug to the diver's left side. The idea is to use an S40 stage with O2 to feed the system instead of the Steel 2L tank used for the tests. I think the pics speak for themselves but I am happy to answer any questions. Next step is to add some cells and maybe turn this to a BOB (will need larger bore hoses). /GKAM ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (first test dive )

| digital nomad Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Sidemount Rebreather (BOB in the works) Does the Buddy SMB seal OK, and what heat with the iron?? Hi Dave, it works just perfect. Use max heat on the iron and make sure you do the trick with the cooking pan. Place the iron on the rim and leave it there for a few minutes to ensure it gets pretty hot.Rest of it looks great! Then place the DSMB and apply pressure with the iron. The key is to have heat on both sides of the SMB. For testing, I filled the bag with water and plugged the p-ports before throwing it on the foor and kicking it around a few times. Not a drop of water came out ![]() /GKAM

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Nice work! Good "low tech" trick with the sealing of the bag. I tried sealing some liftbags and SMBs using a commecial induction welder but it didn't turn out great, either too easy to tear aparat or too much heat making it melt or catch fire... Didn't really bother to spend time on finetuning the weldning since I found a nice and cheap CL source. Stumbled upon some green inflatable camping pillows made by Intex, they cost <1 € a piece (at Ullared, here in Sweden). Bought a bunch of them, made holes for p-ports, removed the inner walls. They are too fragile for unshielded use but worked really nice in the sling-Rebreather (they grey one in this link: Sling-återandningsapparat (sling rebreather)). No leaks after a dozen dives or so. Here is a link (from an overpriced source) of how the camping pillow looks like:

![]() | Re: Sidemount Rebreather (BOB in the works) Hello! Could you explain how is your ADV? It seem's to be a 2d stage of regulator, but how is connected the hose for rebreather alimentation of gas? If you have a pic of this part... It could resolve a problem I have to do this part of mine... Thank's marc |

There is no need for an ADV at this stage since this is only a pure O2 rig for now. /GKAM
