Dolphin and ray adv

Hi all,

last time I was asking lads how could I clog the ray adv injector, I finaly ended by turning a ring that will compress the o ring placed over the injector to protect it.
I will use a new o ring the original one is to compressible, to soft I mean.
I will post some photos .

in the mean time I have thought of a comment of a member whos sujeste me to use the dolphin gas addition part in the ray by pass, it is not a good solution for me because I the dolphin avd works under 16 bars where the ray works with a 9 bar MP.

But I have had a look at the two systems and they happend to be similars actually.

there is no tuning device in both parts , I appears that the only difference is the spring.

dose it means that if I only exchange the spring the dolphin adv will work under 9 bars pressure like the ray ?

has anybody made this exchange ?

regards

jean mi

just a drop of glue does the job :-)

Re: Dolphin and ray adv

Looking at the danshop site, it seems that they use the same spring....
The dolphin part is I think the same as the ray, but without the small hole.

Hi Paul,
I don't want to go this way.
I am not sure the glue will stick properly to the platted brass.
I was just wandering what was the difference between the dolphin dil addition valve and the ray one .
I think that the only difference is the spring but I am not sure.

well but in this case so where is the difference ?
I mean the ray works under 9 bars and the dolphin with a 16 bars MP and there is no apparent difference bwt the 2 devices ?
as there is apparently no way of tuning the adv how to make it work with the mp used.
as I told in a previous post, as long as my mp was set to arround 12 bars the adv was providing me ags without to much effort.
but I rencently reduced the mp to 9 bars to get rid of a leak situated on my second stage bail out regulator which working mp is 9,5 bars...so now it is very hard to get diluant intake in the loop while decending...is it really dangerous.
I've bought a ray adv/injector and machined a ring to clog the injector , so it is ok for me but I was just wandering the difference btw the 2 avd's just for my personnal knoledge and maybe for the other scr/ccr dolphin modifiers that will face the same problem then I did.
regards

One of my friend modified the dolphin ADV by changing the spring when turning the whole unit into mCCR, if not the ADV is very hard to fire.
Ill let you know what kind of spring if necessary.

Cheers

Re: Dolphin and ray adv

Hi Jean mi, instead of soldering or gluing the small hole in the Ray sealing insert or changing the whole ray ADV for a Dolphin one, you can do what I have just done and buy a Dolphin sealing insert from Martin at Tecme (25 euro) and fit that into your existing Ray ADV. It works fine!

Hope it Helps

hello

in fact have a dolphin adv , it is too hard to breath with 9 bar MP so I bought a ray to make it smoother

my problem is not to clogg the ray injector but to understant the difference btw the ray and the dolphin by pass.

regards

jean mi

Re: Dolphin and ray adv

Hi Jean mi, if you've had the adv to pieces have you fine tuned it by adjusted the lever so it sits just touching the underside of the diaphragm by tightening/slackening the nut on the end of the bypass assembly?

Other than that you can look at Kim Meineche's site KISS-Dolphin CCR by Kim Meineche to see how he modified his adv with another spring from a scuba pro.

Hope this helps

Best Regards...Paul
