Swagelok parts

I am looking for a stainless steel hose tail to go into a 3/8 UNF first stage and 1/4 hose ID. The closest I can find on the Swagelok website is SS 4-HC-1-6 which is 3/8 male NPT & 1/4 hose ID.

As I don't know my UNF from my NPT has anyone used this as a substitute and did it work OK?

hello divein dose it really need to be stainless? I'm assuming you are trying to make your own hose Assembly? if so i have 3/8UNF reusable hose fittings or if you have an old hose with that thread on the end and you cut off the feral around it you will find it is a hose barbed fitting underneath.

Conceptually, UNF is to NPT as is BSPP to BSP tapered; essentially, first is a parallel thread that uses an additional part to seal, second is a tapered thread that seals via interference of tapers.

Does this mean that The NPT part can be used safely and does not require an 'o' ring?

As regards Tecme I would need to get a tube adapter with a 7/16 nut to fit the part. Correct?

No, A0066 goes to the MP port of the regulator (3/8-24UNF). You just put the Swagelok 1/4" tube fitting in it.
If you need a 7/16UNF end (HP port) then take adapter A0065.

I think the bit that John mentioned, the reuseable 3/8 hose end is what you are looking for.
