| SCBA 1st stage question I have been working on a SCBA first stage and have run into a bit of a problem. This first stage yoke connection and nut came apart like a dream. Most scuba regulators have a cir clip or nut holding the sinter filter in place. Well, this particular unit was jammed in place and you could see how it was not leveled before pressing into the base. So my question is- with most SCBA 1st stages are the filters press fit and any guess how thick? Again most Scuba first stage filters are 1/8” thick unless it’s a cone. I am thinking of drilling a small hole and then running in a deck screw to then lift out the jammed in filter. The other option is to Gorilla glue and gluing the top of screw to the surface to pull it out. My concern is there is potentially a hex key fitting under the filter that holds the internals in place. I do not want to destroy that. Side note- this 1st stage will not be used again- it’s for a photo break down, and my personal documentation. Also I am a certified for regulator technician and general tank monkey. Thanks ahead of time. Regards, Andrew

| Re: SCBA 1st stage question What kind of SCBA? The ones used on BioPak 60 & 240 have a sintered filter that appears to be pressed into the small nipple that fits into the hole in the oxygen valve. Never tried to remove it. If I had to remove it, I'd probably try disassembling the reg and driving it out from the inside - can't recall if the hole is big enough for a pin punch, though. -Dan

| Re: SCBA 1st stage question Model is a Biopak 45 The single hose connection is at an 90 angle- so no punch. The hose connetion was single drilled hole and then threaded. You can tell by the threading at the end of the hole. Thanks, Andrew
