Homebuild training and certification available

Dear All,

Following on from a number of enquiries via PM, I am pleased to confirm that Zero Gravity Diving is able to offer training at Mod 1 level, normoxic trimix and advanced trimix levels at our facility in Geneva, for homebuild CCRs.

The training will not be available in the EU for liability reasons and certification is through PSAI.

Here's the deal, as long as you meet the normal prerequisites, age, dives etc for the level you seek and we believe your unit is up to doing the course (our discretion) then we will provide you training and certification where you demonstrate competence in the necessary skills.

After all, why should you be denied training just because you built or modified the rebreather yourself?

As experienced mCCR and eCCR instructors both manual and electronic homebuilds are welcome.

Please feel free to PM on here or contact us here:

Zero Gravity Diving - Contact

Cheers,

Dave Cooper and Phil Sudan.

Sounds like great news to me. Oz is so much closer than Geneva.

But do I understand you correctly. Its thru SSI??? I didnt know they did Rebreather training. Havent they just started doing "tech" courses?

Anyway I would like to know more as I am currently working on a IDA 71 conversion to a mCCR. Can you please PM me some details like where, how long how much etc.

Cheers
Greg.

Re: Homebuild training and certification available

so after designing and building you own unit you then instruct the instructor how it works in order for him to instruct you how to use it....

all kidding aside I think the existance of a course to 'legitimise' homebuilds and provide formalise training is good especially from a legal/insurance/operator perspective also think its good that users can go to mod3 with their homebuilds now

Exactly, and the course is also cheep. Me as a homebuilder claim normaly 800 Euro to instruct a instructor how my houmbuild works, the cours in which the instractor tell me how to use my homebuild is about 1000 Euro so the difference is 200 Euro for the mod3 or 3 .....really cheep.

No I'm kidding too, it's time to give homebuilder the possibility to use legitime there homebuilds and go to mod 3 with there homebuild
Thanks guys.
