which wing ?

Hi all,
what is the more suitable wing of a rebreather ?
I dive a dolphin with a back plate harness.
I am looking for a wing that has as less gas as possible in it's upper part so that I don't have to locate big amount ot lest behind my neck or on my back plate edges as I'am doing now .
regards
jean mi

Re: which wing ?

I've just got my hands on the Deep Sea Supply RB40 wing to use with a Meg. Looks really well designed and very well made. I haven't got it wet yet (should be Monday) but I have heard good things about it from existing users.

I haven't heard of any Dolphin divers using them so it might be worth asking around.

I was under the impression the Dolphin was designed to be worn close against the back, the original harness has it so the CL is almost touch you.

Mind you that is in SCR so what do I know...

the dolphin is a perfect rebreather .....to dive in the same range as an oc diver with a S100 nitrox tank ((((-:
but it was the first widely produced rebreather 8 years ago, so we all modified it to dive trimix and ccr.
diving it with a standard harness and backplate works provided you make a new shell or provided one reinforces the existing shell
if you use a back plate you have to design you new shell or reinforcieng frame so that the cl have enough space to expend cause they are going to be beween the canister and the backplate.
the original dolphin as a matter of fact placed the cl on the diver's back , the fact the CL are located 5 cm away for the diver back never caused me any problem.
then only problem I had was that the wings have too mutch gas in their upper part and that good underwatter trim only can be obtained by locating the lest behind the diver 's neck on high on the shell to counteract the cl+high part of the wing trim that make you as vertical as a californian palm tree.
regards
