An(other) IDA-71 Conversion I'm almost ready to start assembly on my IDA-71, I started this project in 2004 and am just now getting some parts machined, they will be back from the machine shop tomorrow and I think I will start the tear-down this weekend. I'm looking to get trained in March on a Kiss, Megalodon, or Inspiration. I'm going to do this in Cozumel, so lots of choice, my consideration is since I can't be trained on a IDA-71 (except in Thailand) I figure I'll go to the rig that is either most easy to rent or the one I'm thinking of purchasing. Anybody have experience with this? Now an(other) question: Has anybody created a water trap for the IDA? Thanks 5000

Re: An(other) IDA-71 Conversion Dave Sutton (Franken rig's daddy) on this board will do training on the IDA 71 - closest approved training would be on the KISS Still working on mine - I should have time to get it together this spring and hope to do my training with Dave.

PM if you like. I do baseline IDA-71 Oxygen-Only mode, Baseline IDA-71 with offboard nitrox mode, and KISS Conversion mode. Certification issued under RSDAS as the agency. You two guys ought to coordinate completion and train as a pair. Makes it better for everyone. Water traps have been made, do a search for old threads. In the main, they are not required. Dave .

During your tear down, you ARE going to correct the lurking problem inside the bag that has almost killed a number of ’71 divers, aren’t you? Scan old threads and you’ll get an eyeful! Now an(other) question: Has anybody created a water trap for the IDA? Thanks 5000 As Dave said, pictures of modest water traps are in old threads as well. Dive safe, Ken

Re: An(other) IDA-71 Conversion I recieved the following from Skipbreather via PM, it is important enough to post here. A future builder may need this information. If your going to the trouble of converting an IDA-71, this extra bit of work will be nothing, especially since "It could save your life." Message: Hi Bryan- Problem has to do w/ a weak metal clamp band on the hose T inside the bag and how its breaking has come near to killing some folks via CO2 hits. These threads cover it well w/ some pics: http://www.rebreatherworld.com/home-...onnectors.html http://www.rebreatherworld.com/home-...mebuilder.html http://www.rebreatherworld.com/home-...-and-time.html Best, Ken
