![]() ![]() | Adv Im looking to include an ADV on my homebuilt project, and I wasnt sure how others have dealt with that. Is there a part somewhere or a trick to making your own, or have most of you just used parts off of current models. It seems like a relatively simple component, Im just not sure of the intricacies. An ADV is just a modified demand valve right? when the breathing loop is a lower pressure than the surrounding water the ADV adds diluent right? Im sure there is more to the valve than I am thinking about. thanks, Alex |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Adv On some units they are simple than others. The Prism the ADV is for most parts a schrader valve in the counter lung. When the lung bottoms out the valve get pressed in and gas flows. Very little chance this type can free flow. Other units use what looks to be a second stage reg, some free flow a little some don't. Decide how complex you want to make it.

| Thom Susko ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Adv Probably easiest way to add an ADV is to use a Drager Ray dosage unit. Although there were origionally built for Semi-closed units with a constant flow valve they also have a demand backup. You can simply close the constant flow orfice (we weld them) and you have a demand only valve. The other nice thing about them is that they plug into a P-port so they are easy to add to a homebuilt counterlung. Thom |

![]() | Re: Adv A friend of mine used an off the shelf second stage for his ADV on his modified Azimuth (KISS) unit. He machined a plug for the exhaust valve and a fitting for the mouthpiece end which plugs into the Azimuth lung. It's been working flawlessly for about three years now since he installed it. I can probably get him to send a few photos if you're interested. Cheers, Al. |

| Thom Susko ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Adv Well if money was not an option (and you don't want to fool around with mods) I would just use a Meg ADV. You can buy the whole kit on Diverite Express. 1 - Counter lung ADV port $49.00 1 - ADV $189.00 If you want a less expensive diaphram alternative (that doesn't free flow) pick up a Ray Dosage unit. The inner part is a cheap part from coltrisub,It seems like a relatively simple component, I'm just not sure of the intricacies.
