![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Another Apeks DS4/IDA-71 Question I've just put my Apeks DS4 on the O2 tank of my IDA-71 and I'm wondering about the red plug. The HP port is labelled and I'm assuming that the others are LP ports. All ports are plugged with the usual silver "O" ring plugs. What's the red plastic one indicate? Hank

AFAIK its just there to save some money. Since you are very likely to use at least one of the LP-ports they save a little by going for the small little red cap instead of proper metal plugs on all ports. Thats my guess. I'm quite sure the flow properties is about the same for all the LP-ports and they all have the same thread on the DS4 (3/8-UNF).Hank

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Another Apeks DS4/IDA-71 Question Hi Jaap has it right... We discussed the same thing a while back and came up with the only plausable answer. The red plastic plug is to save money. The DS4 or any 1st stage will be used with at least one LP hose, therefore there is no need to plug it with a "expensive" Allen key plug that will be removed in any case. One plug does not make any commercial snse, but if you sell 10 000 1st stages, it can amount to a lot of money Regards Johan

I think that the manufactor saves ME some money. If they should have send the product together with stuff you don´t need the product would have been more expensive. ![]() |
