| 1)Lose the restrictive top fitting to improve WOB. Maybe use a faucet aerator/screen piece. Heat the whole thing up nice and hot and jam it on. Should melt new threads into the plastic,,,maybe .2)Add a neoprene beer bottle coozy to help keep the reaction temp up. I'm guessing somebody must make one for the ever popular "40". If not just wrap it in bubble wrap add duct tape and top with a brown paper bag to sneak it into the pool and provide thermal shielding. If you use a french fry bag from McDonalds it will be nicely oiled and waterproof for a reasonable time. 3)replace the opaque CL with a clear one. Rather than taping it to the bottom of the scrubber put it over your head run a hose from it to the bottom of the scrubber and secure the whole thing around your neck with duct tape. Now you have a combination FFM/OTS CL. Obviously you will need to align the top of the scrubber with your mouth and jam it through the bag. Before you pass out! Poke a hole in the neck(of the bag)and loosely cover with tape to provide an OPV for ascent. Only one ascent recommended. YMMV ![]() |

| Re: Yeah I've just made this..... I was thinking more like this. Horrible diagram I know. MS Paint is not my strong suit. By having the bottle penetrate the mask you don't need a DSV to stop loop flooding if you drop the mouthpiece. Also you have short range COMMS by merely letting the mouthpiece out and yelling to your dive buddy. Since your'e injecting the O2 into the scrubber there should be a decent mix in the CL to hold you over a few breaths. Need to cough/sneeze/spit during the dive? No problem MON! Another little side benefit. Your outer ear and sinuses are in the same airspace like a BigEar Mask so easy equalizing. You now have what is for all intents and purposes a softsided dive hat with pendulum rebreather and short range diver-diver comms,,,and only pennies to make! Still need to figure out a way to do initial loop purge. I'm thinking maybe a big rubber band is a better neck seal than the duct tape. To purge just invert your head and crack the neck seal till you feel squeezed. Of course you could also start with a full bag of air stick an el-cheapo analyzer in the bag for ambient pressure PO2 monitoring. Mix on the fly and get some real depth potential. PS. In your diagram or mine you could also breathe in and out through the mouth as it's still a pendulum. Hmmm Two rebreathers in one. Patent? Swiss Army Rebreather? | Re: Yeah I've just made this..... going to give it a go in the pool on saturday....... ...... What more "vaporware" don't we have enough already? I saw the succeeding posts and was preparing to buy one. The price was right, I figured I could help pay for my crossover by writing a manual for it and selling spare/custom parts. I must say, I envisioned being the exclusive NA distributor. Now it seems my dreams are crushed........... must be the cold meds I've been taking ![]()
