| Re: Ida 71 I dive an IDA 71 also. I am new to the board and this is my first post. I can show you some pics if interested of what I did. I am actually in the procees of modying it again to make it an ECCR. If I had the cash, I would get another one in a heart beat and have one for 130 and less, and another for the deep stuff. I will be glad to help you out as much as possible. ADAM |

Hey UWB, hows it going? You know, if you are dissatisfied with your current unit I could be convinced to swap it for one Kiss modifed azi I have, I'm pretty sure you could maintain it with out a manual at all if you have to, and definitely do most work at homeI wish more manuals were like that. ![]() . Taken me a little longer than planned to convert over but all good know. Hope you don't mind what I have done to your old unit Matt |

I havn't yet incorporated a trap, but think I have an idea which will utilze the unused scrubber ports. i will post you some pics when its done. | Re: Ida 71 How do you guys check for leaks when one counterlung is in the other? This is one of my concerns with the Submatrix. Has anyone considered using over the shoulder counterlungs and removing the bag? HAs that been done? Or splitting the bags like the Azimuth? Just curious.... Andrew |

The IDA 71 has only the one lung, but has the expire pipework running through it. This would be deadly if the fitting came apart, but as you can see in the pics, I have fitted a single continuous hose, thus eliminating the problem. This is one of my concerns with the Submatrix. | Re: Ida 71 Bravo! on the single hose. I thought that there were two bags- one inside of the other. Thanks for setting me straight. Andrew |

The procedure I came up with after my buddy took a life threatening CO2 hit:This is one of my concerns with the Submatrix. Andrew At the beginning of each day of diving, I would temporarily connect my inhale breathing hose to the exhale counterlung connection. I’d then plug the scrubber connection at the other end of the internal-to-the-counterlung expired breath hose. Suck it down and do negative pressure check on just that small, isolated part of the loop. When check was good, I’d reassemble breathing hoses for correct gas path, install scrubber, perform the standard negative pressure check, and go have a great day of diving. A couple of side notes: 1. The negative pressure is being held by the inhale mushroom valve, not the DSV itself, so the suction must be broken by unscrewing the inhale hose from the rig. 2. A similar test is undoubtedly good procedure for ANY rig that pipes expired breath INSIDE the main counterlung. I routinely did this check even though my water trap- which replaced the single internal hose- had only two connections inside the bag. Dive safe, Ken |
