| Re: KISS GEN 1 Valve If you've got a 1st gen then I wouldn't put rubber hoses on it. The 1st gen will handle full cylinder pressure if you get a valve seat failure provided you have stainless hoses. Get the adapter from Jetsam to attach it to a 1st stage. The 1st gen is the best out of all the MAV's produced.

| Re: KISS GEN 1 Valve Don't you have an over pressure relief valve on your 1st stage to do the job ??? Nope. If I had an OPV and seat failure then I'd lose my O2 fairly quick. If the valve seat goes then the entire system on the 1st gen will handle the pressure without leaking and O2 will still flow. I can control that flow by using the shutoff valve on the downstream side of the MAV without losing any oxygen at all.![]() Sure with rubber hoses and an OPV you'd probably be able to do the same by cracking the cylinder valve but you'd be losing a lot of oxygen out the OPV every time you did it and you've also got oxygen in a rubber hose reaching 150bar+ with a dead end in less than a second. You also stand the chance of a hose blowing or a later plastic MAV blowing apart. With an all stainless MAV then my preference is always to use Swagelok pipework throughout the whole system. That's what it's designed for and it'll take high pressure. With the plastic MAV's then it makes no difference what you use. Cheers, Stuart

| Re: KISS GEN 1 Valve Stuart, I guess the adapter is really what I am looking for as I will keep the swaged hoses. You are right this thing is built like a tank. Its a great looking/feeling MAV. Erik |

| Re: KISS GEN 1 Valve Stuart, If you get SAE fittings then they are a UNF thread. I can't recall which one is 3/8, I think it is No12 but I could be wrong. With most non-diving specific UNF/SAE fittings then you would have to mill the end off it because they are too long. Easiest thing is to order the adapter from Jetsam, saves any hassle. BSR-Aerotek in the UK have a big range of adapters but avoid their swivel fittings as they don't seal properly with scuba fittings. A shop which supplies car brakeline or fuel fittings might be able to sort you out with something too.I guess the adapter is really what I am looking for as I will keep the swaged hoses. You are right this thing is built like a tank. Its a great looking/feeling MAV. Erik Yeah, they are totally bombproof. They don't even need any major servicing as long as you don't score the nylon valve seat (always press the button down when disassembling). Just make sure you've done the spring modification or the button can unscrew by accident (I had one do it once, the new spring solved it). You can get the new springs from Jetsam. Also, it's worth checking the flow rate as well as a lot of 1st gens will be fitted with the shallow orifice. Again, the standard orifice is available from Jetsam. I think Norgren sell them too (mine came in a Norgren bag). Cheers, Stuart
