mCCR Plumbing plan

Critiques and recommendations requested - (Particularly part numbers for the various fittings... I prefer to go the CEJN route for the QD)

This is my first provisional plan for a mCCR Dolphin, onboard O2, offboard Diluent. O2 cylinder in stock Dolphin location with valve on diver's right, offboard Dil cylinder sidemount and/or stage left. Manual Add Valves velcroed to waist webbing.

Using MVJ-2 (Clippard), BLK 2208 (Versa) or 6790T42 McMaster valves (reference http://www.rebreatherworld.com/home-...highlight=kiss) buttons up, to be in an ergonomic position for use when hands are held infront at waist.

Layout based off http://www.rebreatherworld.com/home-...iss#post115565 and Mr. Sutton's "Duncan's New Add System"

Re: mCCR Plumbing plan

On second thought,.. I could eliminate a pair of connections by turning the pair of T's on the Diluent side with a Cross. This would result in the MAV outlet facing forward, the LPI outlet facing up, the ADV outlet facing aft, and the QD outlet facing down...

Re: mCCR Plumbing plan

Add a check valve just before the un obstructed feed port so that if you happen to close the valve of the tank or the flow is very low the muck doesnt creep in to your pipes an clog your orifice or corrode your filter.

Re: mCCR Plumbing plan

I would move the oxygen filter (if I used one at all) to the other side of the tee so that it only feeds the orifice. That way, if the filter should become plugged, you would still have manual feed available.

I have more or less the same setup than Scott and even when I had no one-way valve on the O2 side (that clogged the orifice, my mistake), the filter (Swagelok 7µm) never had any problem.

Re: mCCR Plumbing plan

Hi Guys
Hi Stephane

from my empiric experience with my IDA-71

a) as a first stage i use the classic APEKS DS4 with cap to fix IP
b) as filter i use a McMastercarr Filter 10 micron
c) as orifice i use the .003 orifice from the same company that makes them for jetsam.
d) as "OR VALVE" (to protect orifice) i use a Clippard MJSV-1

the filter only for the orifice...
if i use the filter also for the MAV the flow is too low..
the MJSV-1 to protect orifice from the flow of the MAV

Re: mCCR Plumbing plan

Ok, I've come up with three variations based on the recommendations:

For Backmount cylinders, No offboard connections

For Sidemount cylinders, Quick Disconnects to change (possibly a problem with contaminated water clogging filter and/or orifice if cylinders changed underwater)

For Backmount cylinders, with Offboard connections for both O2 and Diluent. (Again, possibly a problem with the contamination from water clogging filter and/or orifice if O2 cylinder connected underwater)

Re: mCCR Plumbing plan

Hi

this is the configuration of my modded IDA-71
see also:
http://www.rebreatherworld.com/home-...-ida-71-a.html

note: the 71 have only one counterlung, the inhale couterlung

oxigen line:

a) as a first stage i use the classic APEKS DS4 with cap to fix IP
b) as filter i use a McMastercarr Filter 10 micron
c) as orifice i use the .003 orifice from the same company that makes them for jetsam.
d) as "OR VALVE" (to protect orifice) i use a Clippard MJSV-1
e) as MAV i use a Clippard MJV-2 push valve + security spring
f) for internal hydraulics i use Rilsan PA 11 4x2 hoses (44 bar) with AIGNEP push in fittings (only 15 bar)

diluent line:

a) as a first stage i use any first stage (original IDA for internal diluent)
b) as MAV i use a Clippard MJV-2 push valve + security spring
c) for internal hydraulics i use Rilsan PA 11 4x2 hoses (44 bar) with AIGNEP push in fittings (only 15 bar)

it is not possible to use with quick disconnect underwater with orifice, it will be clogged
the oxigen in, is first the scrubbers
the diluent in after MAV, is in the same P-Port that i use as for sensors

the MAV (Clippard MJV-2) havent any flow reductor, probably the use of little Rilsan PA 11 4x2 hoses give the right flow.

with this configuration is all ok without spikes and with right (for me) flows for the MAVs (oxigen and diluent)

$125 for CMF/O2 MAV/DIL MAV

Ok.... I *think* this is the setup I am going to make =)

Made out of brass for cost and component compatibility (reduce galvanic corrosion)..

QD's intended to make setup on land easier, modular configuration possible, and *URGENT* use underwater only...

Total cost looks to be $124.48 +shipping +3 used hoses, with 10 feet of new hose to play with.

Links included to PDF for those who want to be able to read the labels, and to the Adobe Illustrator file, for those who want to play with my building blocks =)
