| Re: Scrubber bypass Ida-64 Firstly, Thank you one and all! Secondly, it sounds like slowing down and allowing the one scrubber to catch up solves MOST one-scrubber issues. However, if Mr. Sutton says the one-scrubber mode can cause Hypercapnia, it certainly gives wise men pause... The photos of the counterlung are most helpful! I will, of course, post as soon as I've reached MY solution. I'd hoped to carry the majority of my gas inside the chassis, but if I'm too nervous on only one scrubber, time for another sling bottle. Alas. ![]() |

| Re: Scrubber bypass Ida-64 time for another sling bottle. Alas. ![]() Share the bottle between offboard bailout and offboard dil. You'll carry a sling anyway.... let it do two things. It's no bother. Just add a QD line to the bailout bottle and plug it into a fitting that feeds dil to the rig. Dave .

| Re: Scrubber bypass Ida-64 Dave, You are, of course, correct. Most of my diving is in a quarry to about 44m, no current, so over-exertion is rare, but not impossible. The sling stage could serve many uses, and just maybe I could get a 13' for diluent below the scrubbers (more likely a 6') . That way I could still hand the sling bottle to a diver in distress. Conversly, I could put the diluent where the current( Russian) o2 bottle resides, and put the 6 or 13' for rich gas below the scrubbers (where you put tht RGU-FM o2 bottle in Franken-rig). You know the 71 as well as anyone, could one slide a 13' beneath the scrubbers? Regards, Robert ![]() |

| Re: Scrubber bypass Ida-64 Hi I found that the space beneath the scrubbers is very limited. U can maybe fit a small battery cannister for an umbilical light, if that is what you would want to do. I use the space for easy routing of hoses such as my quick connect to my IDA and bailout. I used Dave's advise and utilise a AL80 with Quick Connect for deeper dives (30 m +) as DIL/Bailout and a AL65 ? (7L ali cylinder, we use metric is South Africa) for shallow stuff. To circumvent the handing off of my DIL/Bailout to a out of gas buddy, I put on a 5' "long hose" to a secondary DV, attached to my DIL/bailout 1st stage regulator. The long hose is then stored as I would any staged regulator / sling cylinder. (good old 2 loops of car tyre inner tube) With a 5' long hose, there is no need to hand off your bailout to a buddy, as there is ample "space" for gas sharing off my bailout. We have tested this method at various depths and it works very well, even with me doing a bailout ascent and my buddy breathing off my bailout, simulating a scenario where both me and my buddy need to bail on my IDA's Bailout. The important thing is, that your buddy knows where to find the bailout regulator should he need it and we practise the skill / drill quite often The system works well and deffinately something to look into. Best regards Johan

| Re: Scrubber bypass Ida-64 Johan, It's about 7 cubic feet to the liter. The side mount with long hose sounds like a really viable option. Once my 71 finally arrives, I'm going to take several good long looks at all of my options. Your solution is a very strong contender! Best regards to one and all, Rob ![]() |

| Re: Scrubber bypass Ida-64 Hi about the internal space of ida-71 i put in two bottless of 1,3 liters for internal diluent i use the original external bottle for oxygen a commercial 1.3 litres see this link http://www.rebreatherworld.com/home-...tml#post121281 but in real dive i use, as Dave write, an external bottle using the original quick disconnect of 71 and remember WEAK CLAMPS!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://www.rebreatherworld.com/home-...nd-time-4.html Giovanni |

| Re: Scrubber bypass Ida-64 I've got no intention whatsoever of taking my IDA-64 past 25M at the outside. It's purely to be used as a compact CCR for dive with OC buddies who take the piss all the time because the KISS takes so long to get ready. Yep, Bailout will be carried and so will my BOV.......For the deeper diving, I've got the IDA-72....... |
