| How Tight Do I Install Conical/Tapered Thread Valves? exactly what the title says... ive got some conical thread cylinders that i need to put valves in, and i dont want to overly tighten them or underly tighten them and screw something up. for one.. i cant afford to replace them, as they cost me enough to get them in the first place. im very familiar with spinning in o-ring sealed valves.. just run them in all the way by hand, and bump them with your palms to seal/seat them and they are good. but tapered/conical threads.... any advice appreciated.. | Re: How Tight Do I Install Conical/Tapered Thread Valves? Personally, I install my conical valves pretty tight since I figure it is metal-to-metal seal, and not o-ring seal. I use a DIN-bar in the valve, roll the tank on the floor in the correct rotation and smack the bar on the floor a couple of time. I guess it is the equivalent of tapping the bar with a hammer, but easier. When it is time to un-install the valve, same procedure except roll the tank the opposite direction. |
