| "Lollipop"-valve So this evening I finally got around to making something I had been thinking about for some while. The excellent article and thread about the SNOG valve provided the motivation to dust some things off and go to work ( http://www.rebreatherworld.com/class...-teardown.html ). Last winter I found a funny special mouthpiece gizmo for OC UW-talking on ebay. The obvious possibility of modifying this thing to get an extra add on gas addition port by the mouth got me interested enough to spend about 10 € on it. When I got it I was dissapointed by the flimsy quality of the mouthpiece so I just had some fun evaluating it UW on regular OC-gear. The thing really does work if the talking tube is pushed against the recieving divers ear (even works with a hood). Anyway, the thing then lay forgotten among many other things until this evening. I got around to cutting of the talking tube, grinding down a BCD-"air blaster", tinkered a bit and finally got something resembling a simple one gas SNOG valve that can be added to pretty much any DSV. Some photos from the process: Slickepinne, foton på dykarna.nu I have not dived the thing yet (but will shortly) and I'm not very happy about the quality and comfort of the mouthpiece so I don't think I will use this actual mouthpiece much. But if anyone feels inspired to making up a batch of higher quality mouthpieces with this sort of an extra gas addition point I would be happy if I got to know about it.

Yes, keeping hydrated is most essential for a good evenings work :-) Its amazing how a couple of cans of Oscar Ale can help the innovation process along Best..........Dan As a bonus careful selection of the proper fluids may also dampen negative effects, should the work unexpectedly turn out less than perfect...

| Re: "Lollipop"-valve Great stuff, I read the KISS SNOG teardown a few weeks ago and bought one of those blowing pistols right after. Since then I been trying to come up with a simple and good way of attaching it to the DSV with out any succes. The best idea so far is to put it on the top of the mouthpiece holder and then a 90 degree bend for the hose to keep a low profile and a 90 degree bend on the metal to get the stick closer to my mouth for better access. It's ahrd to explain with only words but my digital camera is broken but I shall see if I can get some pics of it. But I still dont feels so secure with the quality of the blowing gun... I think i'm gonna order an other one to take apart and see if I can find any potential errors in it. |

Yes using the larger flatter surface on top or under the mouthpiece coupled with a 90-dgr adapter could be a solution. If it can be secured like that in some way. If the "airgun" fails into freeflow you could always disconnect the BCD-fitting and hope the spring that keeps it closed when unpressurized is still working. Perhaps a fitting rubber cap could be nice to have around on the outside, if the need to disconnect arises...

Exactly, been thinking if I can attach a fitting with a holder for a rubber cap from my friends at si-tech. They have some nice ones for thier drysuit inletvalves. But it isnt impossible that the fittings on the airgun is specialbuilt. Well, I just ordered another one that I will take apart to check out. If this works, I will have three differant ways to add diluent(drysuitvalve on counterlung, cellchecker and the lolli-pop) |

But it isnt impossible that the fittings on the airgun is specialbuilt. Well, I just ordered another one that I will take apart to check out. The rubber caps that come with the Si-tech valves would most probably work just fine for this (have a few of them). That is if you take one designed for the BCD-fitting. I think the CEJN version is too big to seal a BCD-fitting.If this works, I will have three differant ways to add diluent(drysuitvalve on counterlung, cellchecker and the lolli-pop) Infact these rubber caps can actually seal a little to well if you would need to get it off fast... The airgun will with >99% probability have a normal BCD-fitting with a 3/8-UNF threaded body so no worries. If I had a manual dry suit valve for the dil I would perhaps not really bother that much about this dil SNOG-thing, but thats just my opinion.
