| IDA-71 square scrubber seam up or down? last night I read of someone stating that he places the "seam" down on his scrubber. I blocked off the 8 small holes below the cover, no back pressure, I then used a flashlight to see the pathways. Can I safely conclude that it does not matter whether the seam is up or down? |

| Re: IDA-71 square scrubber seam up or down? If you are talking about the "square" IDA-71 scrubber, then it doesn't matter because the gas flows down one side and up the other no matter which of the top fittings is connected to the exhale and which to the inhale. If you are talking about the oval scrubbers then it does matter. In the oval scrubbers the gas is meant to flow into the space between the double walls first, down the bottom and the up through the scrubber back to the top. It's relatively easy to double check which fitting supplies the interstice by looking at each closely with a small flashlight. Oh, by the way. Just in case I have thoroughly confused you, the IDA-71s come stock with both kinds of scrubbers. The ovals are originally meant for granular scrubber media and the squares are meant for preformed bricks of media. Hope it helps. Jay
