| Re: DSV and Bailouts for pendulem 02 rebreathers Sorry for the delay.. Did not realize folks were that interested. Anyhow the valve is made from 7/8" Delrin plastic bar stock. All I did was machine two O ring grooves as you can see: ![]() I did not have a mill so I used a drill press to cut out the breathing path in the bar stock. Removed one side with a razor saw and dressed it out with a Dremel tool. The body is a plain old PVC TEE with a short chunk of PVC pipe that was turned down on a lathe to make the lip then heated and formed to the normal shape to accept a rubber mouth grip. ![]() The formed ports are heat welded to the main body and the inside is bored out to accept the delrin insert. The fit is close enough that I did not bother to O-ring seal the area around the breathing port. The two on either side do little more than offer a spring loaded retainer. The housing has two minor relief areas machined in the same spot the O-rings are mounted on the Delrin rod. So with some lube and a bit of force you can insert the rod into the body. When the O-rings pop into there relief spots it take a fair amount of force to remove it. Bill

Thank you for the idea.Bill Will try it at home. Let's see how far I can go with my drill press and Dremel. By the way.. I have been trying to be without a lathe but it seems unavoidable. Best regards. AlMir |

| Re: DSV and Bailouts for pendulem 02 rebreathers Hi AlMir, I gotta admit that with out a lathe lots of these little parts are pretty well out of the question. After my big move to Idaho I was reduced to a little 3" lathe. Great for the small stuff. Making a scrubber housing?? Forget it!.. At least not one with machined parts on it. I did make a jig for a router table to sort of fake some lathe work. I could make uniform grooves on the outside of various tubes and such. Having just finished ROBOCAM II I hope to take the long drive to a lake with 300 foot vis. next week and take some stills of my latest equipment in use. Bill

I suppose your jig holds the router fixed against a vertical angle where you position the cylinder form and manually rotate it while the bit is spinning. Right? I wonder what can be done to "bore" without a lathe... Mmmm.... Thanks for the idea Bill. Good luck with your RoboCam II. AlMir |

I suppose your jig holds the router fixed against a vertical angle where you position the cylinder form and manually rotate it while the bit is spinning. Right? Almost..Thanks for the idea Bill. Good luck with your RoboCam II. AlMir ![]() It's a router table, so I made a jig that fits up to the table guides. I used a hole saw to make the guide for what ever size round object I wanted to place an outside groove on or evenly turn down. ![]() The fitting I had was too small but you get the idea. The round disk would fit up inside the fitting to be worked on. I'm not saying this is a safe way to get things done.. but it did work and kept me going. Robocam II is nothing new. The first robocam was ( is ) a video camera platform. Adjustable depth, self propelled as needed and steerable. #II is just a depth/heading holding still camera that mindlessly fires away till you tell it to stop or the batteries die. A product of too much solo diving. Bill
