Newby's First Rebreather

I was just looking at this site: www.cedu2.tripod.com/oxdive4.htm. What are the opinions for a first rebreather? Is it better to build my own or start off with a Dolphin?

Not knowing you at all, my first knee jerk reaction is: if you have to ask that question, your better off going with store bought toys and store bought training. If you have the resources to make such gear you would know best and not put such a question to anyone else. How would we know what what kind of manufacturing master you may be?
