![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: youtube 02 rebreather video homebuild Not offended at all. Yes there is "more" so to speak but I'm not going to elaborate. So far Dave has been pretty friendly about me watching my mouth. I'm going to try and keep it that way. No problem, I won't ask for more. I think I get the drift though. It does sound like an Rebreather big-boy type of game so I'll steer clear and stick with the standard. Really impressive stuff though.Regards, Tibby |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: youtube 02 rebreather video homebuild Tibby, Hi Bill,There any places in Salt lake area that you dive at? Bill There are quite a few mountain lakes/reservoirs we dive on a regular basis including Strawberry, Starvation, Deer Creek, Jordanelle, then there's Bear Lake and Flaming Gorge with better vis. We also dive Lake Mead quite often. They all offer a guaranteed cold dive and most are pretty deep for more technical dives. For warmer and more relaxed diving we have Blue Lake (near Wendover) and a place called The Crater which is only 30 min. away and is 65ft. deep and 90deg. F with decent vis. The latter is however always full of open wetar classes and they charge $25/hr of diving so I stay clear. I don't dive a CCR yet as I just paid for my Apecs Meg and waiting to train on it in October with Ron Micjan but after that I'll be in a hurry to enjoy my new Meg as much as possible. You are welcome to PM me if you are in the area and a diving mood. Cheers, Tibby |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: youtube 02 rebreather video homebuild HI There The C-96 is a impressive piece of work.... Dave.. In your teardown of the C-96 you mentioned that the Counterlung is fabricated out of a PVC material similar to that which is used for the manufacture of inflatable boats. I have a project that I just can not seem to find the right Counterlung material. However, I have good relations with a company that can do high frequency seamwelding of PVC material, used in the manufacture of inflatable boats. Will this material work for counterlungs? Regards Johan

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: youtube 02 rebreather video homebuild HI There I think you'd be golden with inflatable boat material as long as it has a fabric substrate to give it some strength. If it's the pvc film material that is used is cheap "kiddie" boats, I think you might find the strength a bit low. If you are using it for an integrated chassis/lung. If you are planning to just make the lungs out of it and then put them in a cover that will serve as the chassis, it probably doesn't matter. The C-96 is a impressive piece of work.... Dave.. ![]() | Re: youtube 02 rebreather video homebuild Excellent work Bill, thought i seen all your vids, but not this one... great to see someone finally diving a pure homebuild... your whole rig/outfit looks like it's right out of circa 1939 - 1955 :P too bad solid black color schemes are hard to find now (wetsuit/drysuits etc...) Isn't this one of the pendulum ones of yours listed @ therebreathersite.nl? Kind of looks like it... Probably list a vid when i get my CJ Lambertsen made too, everything is done except for the mask... and the only reason it's not done yet is for the life of me i can't figure out how to weld EPDM rubber seams, heat guns just simply don't work. Anyway nj, hope you list more. |

Anyway nj, hope you list more. In one form or another the rig in the video is the one that is on the Janwillem Beck web site. Like the slow creep of death I am working on another version and there will be video sooner or later. On the subject of EPDM rubber, as I recall that stuff is near impossible to glue and it does not weld like plastic at all. This is faded memory on the subject but I recall it is best to mold EPDM in the desired shape. Even if there is a contact cement out there the question would be will it hold up under all the flexing and temp changes. Again, going from faded memory.
