Re: Very Small Panel Meters

What is the model and did you need to hack the meter?

Wish you had posted earlier....
Umm, isn't that one of Mark Munro's boards Sound Underwater Survey - Excellence in marine remote sensing ? They have been discussed at length on here before, I thought...

If not, my apologies. I've lunked on this thread on and off and thought that you wanted something smaller / cheaper / other than the Datel meters.

Here's my re-arranged version of Mark's Gen Six triple display. No opamps, no hacking of the meter, fits easily with battery in half of an OMS tube.

Dan- yes, that is one of Mark's old boards. Date on it is 2000- which is probably the last time I really worked hard on the unit. Anyway, it works pretty well, but I hate the size of the housing. I was going exactly the direction you were with the smaller displays- was looking at the Martel OEM 1B model- very small- perhaps about the size of the ones you have in your picture? Same thing- no opamps, etc. I ideally wanted to get it all in a box the size of the Liquivision (attach it via the the attachment point, and eventually port one of the sensor outputs to an IR transmitter...(pipe dreams!!) Holy cow. I didn't realize Mark was still making these things. I think I will order a new board from him. Forget trying to hack it out myself. YEA!!

(Thanks for the link!)

More specifically this link - Details of PPO2 Displays

teomannaskali - I thought you had seen the Mark Monroe ones before

I guess it just goes to prove you can arrive at the same point starting from two different locations (US/Turkey)

Re: Very Small Panel Meters

I remember looking at his meters a long time ago. bu because of the arrangement and the picutre of the 3 dpms and the battery being so long, it seemed to me like he was using the larger type displays.

oh well...

I am happy with what I did.

How much do the datel's cost?
Lascars are 28usd on ebay.

Re: Very Small Panel Meters

Why didnt I see the OEM 1 B before!

That is clearly a better choice! As the lascars that I am using (SP400)
do not have the reference voltage pins. So you have to hack inside the panel meter to access them. But they do look nice and compact.

Re: Very Small Panel Meters

A new question

Suppose that I am aiming for 2 cell system.

Then
Option 1:
Have 2 independent ppo2 displays

Option 2:
Have 1 ppo2 display inside the same housign

Option 3:
Have 2 independent dual ppo2 displays.

Now with the setup that I have made. 2 ppo2 displays inside the same housing. I have option 2. How can I upgrade to option 3. Use 2 of the same ppo2 displays? I would have to leave out the 10K resistors on one set of displays.

But If I have a flood then what? If the flood shorts the cell on the other side then it is useless to have independant dual ppo2 displays! Is there an way of doing this? If I completely potted the lines to the display maby? how does the DPM behave when it is flooded?
