Some first picture of my rebreather

Hello Guys and Girls!

I just got some pictures of me diving with my rebreather from a friend of mine, so I thought that I should share them with you!

At first I thougt that I should wait to post here until I was finished with my rebreather, but then I found out that it never will be finished, there will allways be new projects and things that are under development or improvement. I thought that some one here maybe would be interested in my project, so why not post

This is for the moment a prototyp of what I have the plans to rebuild with better materials, and better solutions.

The rebreather is a sling-mounted kissstyle mCCR. The idea of sling mount came probably from JAAP and his D5. Many thanks to him for playing with ideas and support.
The work principles is that the exhale gas gets in on the top of the rebreather, there it flows over the top and then around the scrubber (to heat and isolate the scrubber), then it goes down in the counterlung in the bottom before it returns and goes throu the scrubber and past the cells in the top of the scrubber before its inhaled again.
The o2 feed is a home-made needle valve (with bypass function).
One of the big conts of the apparatus as it is today is that I dont have any ADV. The diluent feed is manual, pressing a button.
The hoses are from a russian KIP-8, completed with some home made delrin parts for a working DSV.
The displays are for the moment a couple of borrowed Jetsam-displays, but my intention is to build my own electronics, as soon as I get time

I have tested the rebreather to at most 47m and 115 minutes. The scrubber takes about 2kgs when fully loaded.

Many thanks to JAAP, but also Sten and Jonny here for endless questions!

Hi Paul!

The idea is not to cool the gas before entering the scrubber, but to keep the scrubber warm so it should be more effecient. I don't know if it will do any big differens, but my solution is an alternativ to extra isolation on the outside (like the D5 has some neoprene wrapt around it).
Though, I think the big heat loss is in the counterlung, witch for the moment is built of a pretty thin drybag. So I am thinking of building the counterlung in neoprene. As well, I am thinking of building the outer shell of the scrubber part in thicker material.
