| Drying the IDA-71 counterlung Hi There Wanted to fo diving this morning, and to my dismay found a small amount of water still left in my IDA-71's counterlung, after the previous washing and cleaning. This I only found when one of PPO2 meters would not calibrate correctly.. and I found it to have ended in the "puddle" in the Counterlung, when I assembled the IDA. With the current weather conditions here, being like duck weatrher, there was no chance of the CL drying out at all on the way to the dive site.. Is there a correct way of drying the CL or ensuring that the CL is completely dry before the next dive day...? I though of putting my drysuit dryers's commercial "hairdryer" into the CL, and using warm air to dry it. (for next time...) Can this be done? Regards johan |

The lung dries quite fast if you simply remove the scrubber, hoses, P-port plugs and ADV cover overnight. It takes no more than a minute to undo. Air circuilates very easily then.Wanted to fo diving this morning, and to my dismay found a small amount of water still left in my IDA-71's counterlung, after the previous washing and cleaning. | Re: Drying the IDA-71 counterlung Hello, Georges is right, never had this problem! unscrew breathing all links of the loop, also p-port when there is some! Please do not plugg a air dryer with any warm or hot air, this material doesn't like under the sun or this treatment This is, as inner tube, will be too dry and cracked after a while! Let regular air self dry it. brgds Bernard |

Regards johan I also puzzled over this problem along with the need to check the "T" fitting for failure of the clamps. Dave Sutton suggested putting in a "P" zipper. It works just great. I still have the edging to put on the zipper but I've attached a photo of the installation to date. Hope this helps, Hank

| Re: Drying the IDA-71 counterlung Nice job Hank! Was at Divers Cove getting some Viking parts a few weeks ago and mentioned you to the owner. He said you had ordered a zipper. Glad it worked out! Looks *really* nice. Dave

He was extremely helpful and gave me excellent instructions on how to prepare and glue the zipper onto the CL.Was at Divers Cove getting some Viking parts a few weeks ago and mentioned you to the owner. | Re: Drying the IDA-71 counterlung Hi There It seems that the zipper may be the answer... BUT... What glue was used? Does it not give off dangerous gasses? Most glues used in drysuit manufacture smell "chemical" for a looong time? Thanx for the info though... Regards Johan |

| Re: Drying the IDA-71 counterlung Hi There I used Viking glue and hardner. The stuff used to repair Viking Drysuits. Off gassing from the glue doesn't get into the CL because the zipper is mounted on the outside of the bag. It seems that the zipper may be the answer... BUT... What glue was used? Does it not give off dangerous gasses? Most glues used in drysuit manufacture smell "chemical" for a looong time? Thanx for the info though... Regards Johan To overcome the frustration of the movement of the CL while trying to apply pressure when gluing, I did the following. (see the attached pictures) 1. I made a small cut about midway between where the ends of the zipper would be. 2. I placed a plastic bag into the CL and stuffed it full of "stuffing" material used in making kids dolls and Teddy Bears. 3. The slit wanted to spread open when the CL was stuffed full, so it was stitched together in order to glue on the zipper. 4. I laid on the zipper, outlined it with a pencil, mixed the glue and hardner and proceeded to put on several layers of glue. 5. Finally I put a couple of coats of glue on the zipper and put it in place. Since the CL was stuffed, I was able to use a roller to get the zipper firmly pressed down. Hope this helps. Hank

| Monty Guest Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Drying the IDA-71 counterlung Thanks for the detailed answer and the picts Hank (have some green!) If you don't mind me asking, what is the length of that zipper? The reason I ask is that our drysuit repair guy's zips are only 5 inches or so across, and both Johan (Divingtoors) and I have big hands... Another question if I may - is there something one needs to do to the counterlung fabric where it was cut to stop it from fraying, or does the glue from the zipper does that job? Thanks in advance! rgds monty |

| Re: Drying the IDA-71 counterlung HI.. Great pics ... I have installed 2 x Drager P-connectors for my PPO2 meters, and I seem to have run out of space on the CL for zips as well. How and where were you planning on installing the PPO2 meters ? Regards Johan |
