Can anyone please confirm, with certanty, whether the European G 5/8" thread is fully interchangeable with, what's generally known in the US as, a Std SCUBA DIN thread.?? If yes, is the G 5/8" thread a 200 Bar or 300 Bar thread ?? Thanks in advance for confirmation. Dan

| Re: Is G 5/8" threat fully interchangeable with Std SCUBA DIN thread ?? Hello Dan, Scuba DIN thread is G5/8". Whether it's 200 or 300 bars, it's the length of the thread that differs.

| Southern Monkey Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Is G 5/8" threat fully interchangeable with Std SCUBA DIN thread ?? Hi, Not stictly true, AFAIK if there is a long nipple on a 300BAR reg or more commonly filling whip then it will bottom out in a 232BAR cylinder prior to a seal being made - the idea being that you cannot connect the 300BAR hose to a 232 BAR cylinder, but many 300BAR regs/whips will work fine in 232BAR DIN cylinders.Important are the possible 200 and 300 bar G5/8 DIN combinations: First Stage Tank Valve Possible 200 bar 200 bar Yes 200 bar 300 bar No 300 bar 200 bar Yes 300 bar 300 bar Yes DINspiration 232BAR regs cannot get far enough into the valve to get a seal with the O-Ring. The difference between 300 and 232 BAR is the 7 or 5 threads respectively they are both parallel 5/8 BSP threads. |

| Beeing Visionary Current Rebreather/s: | En 144-2 To be even more precise these connectors are now described in EN 144-2. There are six connectors: Male: Fill Whip =<250 bar & 250-350 bar First stage =<250 bar & 250-350 bar Female: Tank Valve =<250 bar & 250-350 bar A proper =< 250 bar whip is supposed to fit into all tanks. A proper 250-350 bar first stage is supposed to fit into all tanks. A drawing of the similar but older swedish standard can be found at: Åke Larssons site The EN 144-3 nitrox thread works according to the same system, but with the G5/8 thread replaced by a M26x2 thread. /Sten |
