Dimensions Database - would it be useful?

To all homebuilders and modifiers.

I've made myself several adaptors unions and manifolds for various mods to my kit (Medium and low pressure, I don't play with HP ) mostly using 3/8 threads, and want to make a few more useful bits and pieces but I need to check with a service technician friend of mine on a few other thread sizes.

Also, we've all seen the topic "what size thread is on this widget" (Drager P Port seems to be a favourite).

So, I got to thinking the other day, would it be useful if we had a data base of all the bits and pieces used on Rebeathers and Bailout that we could refer to without having to search through loads of posts or get hold of obscure thread gauges?

It wouldn't even have to be limited to thread sizes, it could be dimensions of any often used kit.

For example, I was thinking of building a Drager CMF Nozzle into an inline housing for an idea I've got on a redundant SCR feed as a backup to my CCR. Without taking a Nozzle into my works toolroom, I don't know what thread the front end is. (Example only, please don't start an SCR CCR compatability discussion here )

If people like the idea, maybe you want to add any that you know to this thread and if we get enough, our beloved RBW leaders could turn it into a reference (I haven't a clue how to do that) .

Cheers

Sure it would and it would make a good part of the wiki which is being discussed here http://www.rebreatherworld.com/rbw-s...highlight=wiki

As with all these ideas, it's best to just do it. Otherwise what normally happens is it disintegrates into rounds of "why don't we...?" or "it should be this way..." and nothing ever gets done.
