| mcmaster alternative stumbled across this: Standard Equipment Company - Second Source I think mcmaster is extremely reasonably priced, but perhaps these folks will be more accomodating for our european friends

| Re: mcmaster alternative Read the website: Basically, you tell them what you want, and they will order the "minimum order available directly from the manufacturer" and that's the number you need to buy. They likely have small stuff on hand, but they do not inventory the huge selection, nor sell in the small quantities that McMaster-Carr does. If you are in a factory, need 1000, and can wait a week it's probably a good supplier. Still a good tip, and we ought to continue looking for new sources. Dave

Dave, If you're in a factory environment, need a thousand pieces in a week and meet the manufacturers minimum order quantity, why wouldn't you just buy from the manufacturer ? It's cheaper and if the stock exists it's more likely to be with them.Dave If you want 1 piece and the MOQ is 100 then you need to go to someone who already has stock or pay through the nose for it. I agree that it's always good to find other sources of parts, McMaster-Carr has a massive inventory but they still don't cover everything. Maybe putting together a list of parts suppliers in the one place would be useful, might save trawling through the dead ends on google. I have a few suppliers I could add to the list to get it going. |

A lot of times they will only go through distributors Clippard is a pain that way I can select stuff on their US website but when I want to buy they refer me to distributors in Canada (where I live) and so far the distributors don't return emails requesting a quote. |

| Re: mcmaster alternative Here is another possible McMasters-Carr alternative: omega.com: Omega Engineering - omega.com - Process Measurement Sensors and Instruments. Thermocouples to Chart Recorders and Everything in Between. Only found them recently havent used them yet. Available fitting choices dont appear to be as extensive as McMasters-Carr but it looks like they do have a number of potentially usefull Rebreather bits. Appearently you can order direct & in small quantity. |
