| 3/8-24 to LP port fitting what are folks doing for 3/8-24 fittings? I'd prefer to avoid swagelock, since I am using mostly barbed fittings for the rest of my system. I'd also prefer not to simply salvage existing LP hoses...would like to build fresh from the ground up

| Re: 3/8-24 to LP port fitting Bottom line: Good luck. Nobody has been able to source them. They are made by one maker in the USA and they sell them in 55 gallon drum lots. Not smaller. I talked to John at NE Scuba about this last week, and he can not even get them in 1000 lots. Salvaging hoses is the norm. The other way is to just use second stage supply hoses and where you wish to terminate them, use a 9/16-18 02 fitting to 1/4 NPT. All you need to do to screw the second stage fitting into the 02 fitting is to drill out the interior of the 02 fitting to accept the regulator-end fitting. Or use BC hoses to feed stuff and use BC stubs on the rig to accept them. Makes the rig plug and play. DON'T use BC supply hose ends for breathing... they are low flow. Use them for gas supply lines, but use real regulator hose ends if you want high flow (BOV etc). 3/8-24 is AN-3 and JIC #3, sadly both are sort of non-standard. Dash-2 and Dash-4 are far more common. I guess you would have one on the hose for the autoair you are selling if you wanted to look at it. These are apparently pretty much available in the UK by mail order Cheers Dave |

| Re: 3/8-24 to LP port fitting The AP Valves parts are good, had actually forgotten about them. I bought a small stash of them a few years back and still have a couple. They tend to be a little bulky as compared to crimp-on fittings, but are definately high quality. I use them sparingly as they are expensive. They are deluxe items, no doubt. Dunno why I forgot about them. When I got my old Buddy Commando ABLJ (remember those?) the first thing I did was to shorten the feed hose. The reusable fittings made it easy. I go to the annual divers flea market and stock up on old hoses of all sorts, and spend an hour with a hacksaw getting the years supply. Most LDS's have boxes of old crap hoses. Go make a friend at your local shop and buy a big-old-bag-o-hoses and start hacking! Dave

| Re: 3/8-24 to LP port fitting The only way that i have found for my stainless teflon hoses is to jic-3 to 1/8 npt male and use female npt hose ends. If you can not source locally pm me i have a supplier. but remember when using jic-3 ends make sure that they dont bottom out in the reg, you might have to cut some of the flare face off. good luck rick |

I lathe cut all of the flare off of them. Do you have access to these in SS? Brass ones are a little soft. Dave
