![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Duncan's New Add System Cool Dave, Parts on order. The only thing I changes is (sacrificing old BC hose) is having a QD on the return from the valve to the brass T fitting so I dont have to cut a hose to change or clean the snubber. These part numbers have been put into my homebuilders file. Ditto. I'm cheap and don't want to sacrifice hoses![]() .

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Understood. I'd just run a low IP, add more often shallow, and not worry about the blocked first stage (for now). Set it for 0.5 LPM at surface and see how it works at 30M. If you set it to .5 you will be able to go way below 30 meters with a compensated regulator.Dave If you do the calculation you will find that for depths to 100 feet you will not have to use an uncompensated regulator. I just don't bother. The filter, however, is a necessity. i.e. the flow increase has a linear relationship to the change in inlet absolute (not gauge) pressure according to depth. abs P2 -------- x Flow at surface = Flow at depth abs P1 for a worst case example starting interstage pressure of 150 (165 absolute) and rounding atmospheric pressure up to 15 psi initial measured flow .8 180 ----- x .8 = .87 165 flow absolute pressure at surface 165 .8 absolute pressure at 33 feet 180 .87 absolute pressure at 66 feet 195 .95 absolute pressure at 99 feet 205 .99 Now that I have put my 2cents worth in I would like to thank you for starting me down a new path in making up my own hose lengths. I am now almost free from those issues and starting to rework a couple of systems. That and your clever way of handling the Kiss valve had really cleaned up my Cressi system allowing me to improve the ergonomics. I did a couple of things you didn't do....added a 50 micron filter (I have had an orifice clog)....nickel plated the fittings, and I use stainless for the orifice and filter(I do not want corrosion to change the orifice) See the attached picture for the oxygen side of the Aero where I have indicated the positions of the critical orifice, the filter, and the valve...the rest should be obvious to anyone who has been following this thread. I did not mess with the air side yet but those hoses are gonna change to be the exact length I need. Blue hose for air. Hitting the water this afternoon to check out the feel since I know all those parts work just fine. Thanks again clever Sea Monkey Dave Tom

Dave Sutton's express delivery service was excellent. hello my old mate if you need clipard stuff as well as loads of other stuff give me a call as i have accounts that might helpCan remunerate by PayPal or in kind with an excellent new book on the history of UK cave diving ;-). Pity I can't mail O2, helium or sorb from our chemical store.... * clippard.com only ships to the Our Former Colonies. hey dave nice mods mate regards john

I am awaiting a 15 µm filter from Swagelok, an isolator ball valve and a QC4 to plumb it into my rig. Will post photos and some performance curves (I've got the pressure guages and flow meter set up to accept it). Its all brass as I dive fresh (well muddy) water. |

(3*single?) or 1*3 and 1*1? (Based on McMunroes design) Or built in OMS cannister as shown in this recent thread.Appreciate the classic reminder and great work on the O2 addition module! I for one especially like the way you incorporated the snubber. Of course this <$50 "Cheap Kiss" Modular Injection System is only half the solution. Redundant PPO2 monitoring is not only more expensive but cannot be ordered through McMaster-Carr. You wouldn't have a recommendation for something that does both for under $1,500 would you? -SB

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Duncan's New Add System Dave and Tom: My kind of hardware....a nice inexpensive little 'poor mans KISS valve'..... and clean layouts. I'm starting to look around for the CMF system to ultimately put in my little RGU 2 rig...... I'll do initial trials with the RGU reg, but will ultimately go for a 'pseudo KISS' setup similar to what you've done. Duncan: Do I remember correctly that one of those little Clippard push valves stuck open on you while inside a wreck.?? If so, what was the corrective action ?? Cheers Dan

| Custom Title Allowed! Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Duncan's New Add System If anyone is planning on placing and order soon please PM me. I live ouside the US and would like help gathering the parts and then gettin them in one single package so I dont have to have my money wasted for multiple overseas transports. I am thinking of connecting directly to regulator (poseidon xstream) or a LP hose. And the ouput will have to be threaded. Thanks Teoman Last edited by teomannaskali : 25th May 2007 at 21:34. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Duncan's New Add System So, assuming that you can find a free BC hose, Dave you were right about the LDS supply of used hoses...luckily I have a great relationship with a repair facility....today I walked out with a hand full of hoses and started salvaging. Less than 5 minutes a hose and got a 3/8 by barbed end and a bc inflator. I made to dremel cuts on each hose end. See below.Dave Tom

Glad I can still teach an old dog a few new tricks! Don't use the 3/8 UNF fittings for a BC hose for breathing supplies, as they are too restrictive. The ones on regulator hoses have quite larger internal bore diameters. They remove the same way as what you just did. LDS's have lpoads of old reg hoses as well. Dave
