You make it too easy! looking forward to some wreck heaven in a couple of weeks ML OK, I dunno why I give away trade secrets, I could sell these systems for lots more, but...... (just do me a favor and don't kill yourself with this stuff). Recipe for the "LDSOH Cheap-Kiss", all avaliable from your friendly dark-arts supply house. (1) Valve, 6790T42 $14.75 (1) Valve, 4912K86 $4.90 (1) Tee, 50785K75 $1.55 (1) Tee, 50785K321 $2.18 (1) Ell, 50785K41 $1.13 (1) Snubber, 3820K11 $8.04 (1 bag) Barb Fittings 5346K61 $7.57 (1 bag) Crimps 5435K13 $4.30 (x feet) Hose, Green: 5288K11 $0.85/foot (1 roll) Teflon Tape 4591K11 $1.13 (1) Old BC supply hose (sacrifice to get regulator and QD ends) So, assuming that you can find a free BC hose, or choose to use pipe fittings (you'll have enough extras), and use 5 feet of hose at 0.85/foot, you'll have a whopping $49.80 into your "LDSOH Cheap-Kiss". Told ya it was less than $50..... I think this one rates right up with Franken-Son.... Dave

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Duncan's New Add System Of course this <$50 "Cheap Kiss" Modular Injection System is only half the solution. Redundant PPO2 monitoring is not only more expensive but cannot be ordered through McMaster-Carr. you could buy 2 revo dreams for approx 800 euros the pair. or you could make your own housings and construct 3 ppo2 monitors for sub $200 using the schematic from http://www.ppo2.com/Files/1_3ppo2-schem.pdfYou wouldn't have a recommendation for something that does both for under $1,500 would you? -SB HTH Simon A |

Yes, you do need to spend at least $100 for that...... ![]() You *can* get everything you need, sensors included, from the "Big Yellow Book-O-Rebreather Parts", but there are better sources. Do me a favor though: Buy the BEST PP02 system you can afford. rEvodream is the cats meow. Use what you save on the pneumatics system to get the best when it comes to monitoring. If I were starting as a homebuilder now, I'd make a P-Connector plug-in sensor holder (seem to remember posting the recipe to make those years ago... now available from at least 4 commercial sources...), with 2 cells and a rEvodream, and plug and play it into every rig I ever made. Actually, I'd make a 3 cell probe, run two to a rEvodream, a 3rd to a VR-3, and be happy forever. The homebrew PP02 monitors all work fine, if you keep them dry. Luxury once tasted though.... rEvodream is the cake. Dave Last edited by Dave Sutton : 19th May 2007 at 12:54. |

There's 1000 ways to do this stuff. What I showed is just an illustrative example of how to do a "down and dirty" system at lowest possible cost. There are lots more elegant and possibly better ways, and the VCD might be one of them. Dave |

Is this a discrepency, or is this one of those sizing tricks that isnt obvious? also, what size barbed fittings can be used on standard LP hoses? my eyes arent cooperating enough to read my little ruler against a black hose ![]()

You need the 1/4 inch barbs. Wonder how the folks at the "usual spot" will deal with the sudden spike sales of the 1/8" barb fittings? Good catch! You need 1/4 ID fittings for most LP hoses. Dave |

Wonder how the folks at the "usual spot" will deal with the sudden spike sales of the 1/8" barb fittings? Good catch! Just a niggling little thing. At the risk of spending a few more $$$ there's the 5346K27 1/4" ID barb X 1/4 pipe SWIVEL that works great on the 1/4 turn valve to allow easier positioning. PITA to make the whole thing rigid as Mr Murphy guarantees it will always be facing the wrong way when we grab for the button. You need 1/4 ID fittings for most LP hoses. Dave PS.. Am I glad I gathered my bits last week. But I'm using an Air II for MAV and extra bail feeding from and back to an acetal gasblock. I stole both ideas and combined them. ![]() Last edited by bythesea : 21st May 2007 at 03:29. Reason: Forgot a caption on cheesy Paint drawing |
