| McMaster-Carr Well you can add Canada to the list of Terrorist nations - I placed an order last night through McMaster-Carr. And got the following message: "Thank you for your order. Unfortunately, due to the ever increasing complexity of United States export regulations, McMaster-Carr can only process orders from a few long-established customers in Canada. We sincerely regret any inconvenience this causes you." I've resubmitted using my old account from my last order I did in 2003 - although that probably doesn't make me a valued customer - we'll see if that flies. If it doesn't - anybody want to buy an IDA 71? |

| Re: McMaster-Carr Yeah, now that Denzel finally got what he had sent here, I'm off the hook for now and can arrange a shipment up north. Get your order sent here and I'll FEDEX it up. No worries. PM for my address. Dave

And got the following message: There's two companies in the 'States which allows to to "rent" a physical address in the good old US of A and they can auto-forward or store, consolidate and forward stuff for you. "Thank you for your order. If it doesn't - anybody want to buy an IDA 71? They have different schemes, some of them allow up to 3 or 5 people to share an address. Cost is between US$10 and US$20 per month for a basic one. USA2ME, RV Mail Forwarding Services, Remailing, US Mailing Address, Mail Receiving Forwarding Mail Forwarding Leader - Your Very Own U.S. Mailing Address - Mailforwarding I've not gotten round to buying one just yet, but I intend to and it comes highly recommended. And got the following message: So my order still fell through with McMaster but I've been able to source most of the other parts and fittings from local hydraulics/fastener supply houses the one part I haven't got is an 1/8 NPT shut off vavle but I'm still looking."Thank you for your order. The snubbers/orifices I ordered direct from okcc and they are shipping from the US unlike corallaro I was able to pay visa and ship UPS The brass NPT to barb fittings I got from Grainger (aucklands-grainger in Canada) and fastenal - both have online ordering and offices all over Canada Cable glands I got from alliedelec.com which have Canadian offices but I also needed some electronic parts like lumberg connectors, and op-amps etc. I'm going to a little more on shipping from so many different vendors instead of one but it won't be as much as using a mail forwarding service. Dave I may still take you up on your offer though. I plan on building a list of part numbers, suppliers and costs for the wiki when it's implemented. |
