| Steel or AL tanks for IDA-71 and what size? I'm trying to decide on which tanks to buy for my IDA 71 conversion - since filling the russian tanks is problematic for me. I checked my price on AL and steel tanks at the dive shop and the smaller pony sized tanks steel and AL are comparable in price. So which works best? Who has what size tanks i.e. which fits? For OC I prefer steel as they take lead off my waist but is it too much for a Rebreather? P.S. I'm planning on using a steel backplate and wing with it which adds weight too. |

They fit inside the shell including the regs allowing for a nice, clean setup.I'm planning on using a steel backplate and wing with it which adds weight too. ![]()

| Re: Steel or AL tanks for IDA-71 and what size? Thanks for the reply, what is the working pressure of those tanks? What brand are they so I can compare specs to the ones I can get. Thanks |

Being steeped in cubic feet and only partially converted to liters, forgive me the use of the old measurements: Steel OMS (Faber) 13's fit inside the shell but the regulators protrude thru the bottom. The largest bottles we ever got inside were the 6 cubic feet bottles usually used for drysuit inflation. Aluminum 13's fit the sanme way as the steel ones. "think" the 13's are 2 liter and the 6's are 1 liter? Dave

What brand are they so I can compare specs to the ones I can get. WC is 2L / WP 200 bar, conical thread. These are made in Germany as I recall and made for medical O2. I got the bare tanks for 29 euros each (brand new!) from an O2 supplier and added DIN valves (Drager clones made by the Italian company "SOS"). The valves were 26 euros each. Thanks You will be surprised how low prices are (or could be) in reality when diving applications are not involved... Mind you, I fill them myself so there is never any "compliance" problem. /GKAM

I doubt you will be able to do business with them, but be my guest. Also, it will be impossible to get these tanks filled anywhere unless you do it yourself.![]() Also, a few months after I got the tanks for 29 euro, word got out and someone bought a whole lot. He then upped the prices... /GKAM
