| O2 Bottles and Filling Hi Folks, I've run into a problem as I'm refurbishing my Desco and Homebuilt. I took the O2 bottle in to get it hydrostated and was told that in order to get it done it would be less expensive to purchase a new "R" bottle. Trouble is the "R" bottle is much larger in size, flat bottomed and wouldn't fit either unit. Also, to have it filled commercially they would have to send it away - taking about two weeks!!! I used to fill them myself off the large tanks but control of the flow rate always bothered me as it was difficult to do a slow, controlled fill. The O2 bottle (Stamped Desco) is about 13 1/2 inches long, to the neck and about 3 3/4 inches in diameter with a round bottom. 1. Has anyone had problems getting bottles filled? 2. Where can I purchase more of this size bottle? 3. Any suggestions on a better way of filling them? Hank |

| Re: O2 Bottles and Filling Without laboring over the need for a quality needle valve, one simple method ( not without a price $$$ ) is a manafold to fill as many tanks as posseble in one setting. Filling 4 6 cu ft ponies at the same time is less touchy than just one. Just a thought.

I'm feeling a little more "mortal" these days and stuff I did a long time ago seems rather dangerous today. I'll look into incorporating a needle valve arrangement into my filler yoke. It should lower my anxiety level. Hank |

| Re: O2 Bottles and Filling I use Mcmaster Carr 7833K74: Medium-Pressure Needle Valve W/Metal Seats Brass, 1/4" NPT Male X Female In stock at $18.95 Each...I use one and it will essentially shut off the flow, I shut it all the way down, turn the O2 valves on (slowly) then just crack the needle--I can get it to take 2 or 3 min per 100#...
