To interested parties, here is the order as it stands on the 25/2/07. Unless there are anymore changes to the order, I’m going to contact Tom on Monday and to arrange payment.

MAREKM
1X 3820K11 US$8.04 ulsation-Damping Snubber Brass, 1/8" NPT, .004" Orifice, 2000 PSI

1X 3820K41 US$17.09 Pulsation-Damping Snubber Type 303 SS, 1/8" NPT, .004" Orifice, 4000 PSI

1X 4034K62 US$7.98 Pulsation-Damping Snubber with Filtering Disc Brass, 1/8" NPT Connections, 40 to 45 Micron, 3000 PSI

1X 4034K66 US$10.16 Pulsation-Damping Snubber with Filtering Disc 303 SS, 1/8" NPT Connections, 40-45 Micron, 5000 PSI

2X 44555K131 US$1.38 Brass Double-Barbed Vacuum Tube Fitting Barbed X NPT Male for 1/4" Tube ID, 1/8" NPT

1X 50745K16 US$7.88 Hi-Pressure Brass Single-Barbed Tube Fitting Barbed X NPT Male for 1/8" Tube ID, 1/8" NPT

CORALLARO
1X 3820K11 US$8.04 Pulsation-Damping Snubber Brass, 1/8" NPT, .004" Orifice, 2000 PSI

1X 4034K61 US$7.98 Pulsation-Damping Snubber with Filtering Disc Brass, 1/8" NPT Connections, 10 Micron, 3000 PSI

(Corallaro, if you can try out the brass 10 micron filter, I will test the 45 micron filters).

TOTAL: US$69.93
I have noticed that you went with 1/8 NPT....do you have access to 1/8" NPT to low pressure port adapters? If so no problem....just do not want you to go down a dead end.....

No need to worry, as best way probably isn't hard plumbing to the first stage.

My suggestion has always been to stick with 1/8 NPT and then use female NPT to barb fittings. Screw one on each side of the orifice and then cut any old LP hose and stick the barbed assembly in the middle. Makes it streamlined and there is no clump of metal hard plumbed to the regulator to get broken off. Flexible = good.

That is exactly what I was going to do. Plus I can machine 1/8 NPT adaptors as required. But I'm still going with the flexible solution since I have short LP hose offcuts (with 3/8UNF fittings) left over from setting up my twinset.

However, can you tell me why you would install a shutt-off valve before the orifice as some people have done? Or is it easier to just turn off valve on the O2 tank.

Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone,

1. What diameter orifice do I need for a 0L/min to 1L/min flow rate.

-Marek
Try this formula

Flow through a sonic orifice

Flow (lpm) = 11Pbar * D2

P = pressure in bars

D = diameter in mm

I can't remember where I found it, but it is simple and works well.

You place a shut off so you are not free-flowing 02 when you are dressing and undressing into the rig, and so you can shut down the flow if the PP02 goes high (maybe sitting taking a photo if the flow is a little high). It just makes the rig easier to manage. Use the McMaster-Carr 18 NPT valve I gave the number of before and screw the orifice directly to the valve and place it where it is easy to reach. This is just easier than getting to the cylinder valve while sitting on the bench, that's all.

Tom: I'm thinking of using USPS air mail with tracking number (incase they lose the package somewhere along the way). But if there is a good reason not to use USPS, please advise me of a better postage service (Fedex or DHL?).
