Re: Hollis PRISM II & DEMA 2007

Thanks Lou and Beanie!

The cowling is hideous, way to Bee Gees for me ...

The gas flow direction has been reversed, now from the diver's left counterlung and exhaled into the diver's right, opposite as before.
Good thing, too, as this translates into the cylinders being on the
"normal sides", O2 on the diver's right and dil on his left.

Gas flow is still from the center to the outside in the scrubber,
so the plenum in the head has changed.

BCD and Air2 have been replaced with Oceanic/Hollis products.

Secondary is the same, from what I understand the production version
is supposed to have a digital secondary.

Remember it's just a prototype, not the production version yet.
I believe is scheduled for March 08.

Caveseeker,
Any expected change in cells with a digital secondary that you're aware of?

Re: Hollis PRISM II & DEMA 2007

Absolutely no idea whatsoever (unless there is an expression for less than that )

The SMS202 sensor is a Steam Machines design, so I asume they profit from selling it.
One good reason to keep it.

The ability to retrofit older units with the new digital secondary, or even offer the analog gauge
for the new would be another good reason IMHO.

But your guess is as good as mine.

Last I heard, they were going to keep the passive 2 dry as an option, so that would mean keeping the high output sensors...

Well, nobody said anything about that to me, including Pete, Sharon & folks from
Hollis, and I've been here all week hanging around... I'd be a bit surprised ... in all
honesty, the analog secondary is pretty much what defines the PRISM and changing
that would be nuts (IMHO).

Ah, would that be March 90th or March 120th?

Shaz did say they are working on a digital display for the P2 and that it would be an option as to either the analog or a digital on order.

She was saying the issue is "protecting the cells", and that the current digital displays that are on the market "can harm the cells" Maybe Pete or Shaz would like to give us some more information...

Had lots of touch & feel on the P2 it is a very different beast on the current SMI model...

Cheers

No the P2 on the stand was made of the same materials as the Prism, except the DSV....

Major sticking point for me, they really need to look at sturdier materials all the way through. I believe now Hollis have their hands on it the P2 is not going to be made in the States for much longer. We may well see some new materials sometime next year....

Will be interesting to see how long SMI support the current PRISM for...

Cheers
Chriso

Re: Hollis PRISM II & DEMA 2007

swap the loop direction, shiny new shell and call it a Prism 2??? give me a break, same-o same-o, might as well put some new tires on my car and sell it as new too! Maybe with oceanic doing the build they could actually deliver some units in a timely manner.
