Scrubber duration?

Ok So thoughts on scurbber duration on the hammerhead. I'm doing 240 min on a scrubber in cold water before change, but is this cutting it short. What are you guys times averaging. I kind of think that 300 min's would be more in order but dont want to push my luck..Havnt had any signs of co2 ( yet ) and no over breathing the scrubber even on a piss pannic to exit..

Re: Scrubber duration?

I've been running a maximum of 6 hours on my HH scrubber in Warm water, but I could probably get more. Just haven't had the need to push it longer and I usually change it out every night so I don't have to mess around with it the next morning. Of course, if I'm doing something deep, I will change it out between dives. Please do not take this as my recommendation. It's just what I have been doing on "all day" dive type situations in warm water. In cold water, I don't usually dive that many hours in one day, so the scrubber gets changed out at night with less hours (usually not more than 4).

Re: Scrubber duration?

Depend on the diver and dive condition (depth, temperature) we dive HH from 5 to 7 hours, mainly in 4C water. Thats when the depth not exceed 50-60m. For deeper dives, let me say +60m we reduce divetime to 4-4.5h (depends of the diver). I have several HH CCR in my group with hundreds of hours on its, so this data is an average.

Re: Scrubber duration?

Thanks Guys
All the information that I can get will be helpful in figureing out where to draw the line...I dont dive past 40m yet so depth isn't a big issue yet. I know that some dont want to give an opinion, about this subject due to its dangerous nature, but everyone would benifit from the info. I know that even what you have eaten before the dive will make a difference in CO2 production, also temp and the way the scrubber is packed. Ok thanks again.

Re: Scrubber duration?

On dives up to about 40M in warm water I go comfortably to about 7 hours more or less. I know I can get more time out of it, but why.

Re: Scrubber duration?

After reading Dave S. piece on co2 hits, I'm not sure I want to push any limits, but then again like he said, when it gets flooded time doesnt matter at that point. Sure am glad I have a BOV and plug in off board dil. Now just have to know when to switch. When in doubt bail out. You just have to catch it before you "pass out" Then again my wife says Im worth more dead than alive LOL>>

My X-wife used to say the same thing. She just couldn't wait long enough; so she "settled" for more than half of I was worth at time.

Next time (if there is a "next time") I'll just buy them a house and a car right after the first date, and then give them the rest of their half shortly after.

Thus saving the headache and the lawyers fees...
