Terry,

Not sure what you mean here... The secondary deco is determined from the actual PO2 readings and has nothing to do with the controllable setpoints. The only thing the user controllable setpoint does on the secondary control is the HUD....

Funny, I find it too aggressive. When I'm on the surface and start my descent, it kicks in too quickly for me. Perhaps an adjustable ADV would be the best solution.

I do like the HH electronics, but there are a few things I dont like:

The HH does not have an ability to calibrate on anything other than 100% O2. Normally this is not a problem, but once you go Truk or Palau they usually have between 90 and 95%. The HH will not calibrate, will not accept when the cell get less than about 45 Milivolts (not sure of the exact number). When calibrating, the unit assumes you have 100% and that is the only option.

You do have to maintain setpoints on both handset in order for the deco to be accurate. I just leave the secondary on high setpoint.

The scrubber is big and heavy, and is aluminum. Although it has an electrostatic coating, it is subject to scratches, gouges, and reacts badly when in intimate contact with Sorb. Should have been made of delrin.

The ADV is not agressive enough. It does not supply air as quickly as I wish it would.

The hose routings could have been thought through a little more. I cut apart the back of CL cordura to streamline the hose routings. Alot better now, but I had to do some surgery.

The metal sub tank mounts need to have a lock out for the button. I had a dive boat rack press in the button and release the tank. On another dive, the dive boat rack hit the button and the tank fell out of the mount when I jumped in.

One of the metal sub mounts need to be reversed. They need to be mirror images of each other, are identical instead.

With all this said, I still am very happy with my Hammerhead. If I could change just one thing, I wish it were lighter / pack smaller.
The unit is solid, robust, can take a beating, and can be relied upon. For me, it is a perfect Rebreather for my use and I would buy it again.

I will trade you my HammerMeg. It will satisfy all your complaints.

It has the new Delrin HH handsets.
The ADV will fill the loop in well under 1 second. It will blow your lungs up.
I have already streamlined the hose routings.
The tank mounts have a locking pin and are mirror images of each other.
Its got the movie size can so it will pack easier and lighter for you.

It does not have a BOV but I will let you keep the one on the HH CCR and we will call it even and both be happy.

Re: New Hh Or Meg?

After having dived the HH CCR for the past couple of months, I must say that I am pretty much happy in every way with it. It trims out incredibly well, is built like a tank and I has been virtually trouble free. It has all of the features standard, that many people seem to be adding onto their units, and best of all, they all work well in conjunction with each other. I don't really have any complaints about the ADV. I typically shut mine off anyway, since I like to manually control when I get a shot of dil.

As far as the calibration issue - Kevin is aware of the situation and from what I understand is making an adjustment. It really is not an issue if you have purchased "working cells"! (Unless of course you live on the top of a mountain!)

I would buy another one today! Couldn't be happier!

Regards,
Randy

Sure some have dove the HH unit. The ones I know (there might be others) that responded on this thread are:

jradomski - instructor
mixaddict - instructor
diverklondike - diver
heyydude - the manufacturer

Each of them can respond if they wish but you might also find some of your answer using the search function.

John
I happen to dive HHs (three of them, sometimes two at once ) and I am an instructor on it.
My Meg has been dry for more than year and half.

Re: New Hh Or Meg?

Richie - thanks for the input - I will research this thoroghly you bet.

No-way I'd trade my HammerHead. Like I said the last part of my post, it is the perfect Rebreather for me.

I guess the scratches and gouges a form of personalization. Pretty much all my gear is highly personalized.
