![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | rebreather as a usual kit Hi All, Most of us have switched to rebreather diving, it has been a great change in our life, some of us always dive scr or ccr, others sometimes dive scr/ccr and sometimes go back to oc. I wonder what proportion of divers have totaly switched to Rebreather for diving and never dive OC. as for me I did not breath from a reg for 10 years now exept 30 dives abroad, and except my open circuit bail out self training sessions . regards jean mi

| New Member ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: rebreather as a usual kit I did a cave course and the instructor said he'd rather do it OC so I did it OC. As ever, in things like that, you pick the instructor first and learn the skills he teaches. It was all lines, lights and signals so what I was breathing from would have made no difference other than I would have had to carry it over a mountain first. His next level course is also OC biased so I'll be doing more this year I hope. Other than that I think the two CCRs have assimilated me.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: rebreather as a usual kit I haven't dived OC in the UK since passing my Mod1 (apart from bailing out!). I have travelled with it, but have also got in a few dives on holiday OC and had a red sea trip where the logistics and expense of taking the Rebreather were just not worth it ![]() Neil

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: rebreather as a usual kit Right now the only time I dive OC is when I am teaching and I am even thinking about changing that somewhat. The agency I teach through requires me to be on OC only for open water classes. But I am not sure the implications of teaching other OC students while diving CCR.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: rebreather as a usual kit I dive mostly Rebreather, 80 to 90%. When I teach, I usually wear what my students wear. If I'm teaching OC Decompression Procedures, my students are wearing doubles and so do I. At least for the skills dives I feel it's important to be able to demonstrate exactly what I want them to do. On shallow (<80') dives its nice to throw a steel 60 with 32/25 on my back and just scoot around every now and then with nothing to keep track of but an SPG. When I dive with either of my kids on the reefs in FL, OC gear makes more sense as we are both dressed the same. I try to keep diving simple and fun for them. Ted

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: rebreather as a usual kit Rebreather almost all the time recreational and tech. OC for Ice diving as its easier to use and I really don't want the unit to become a block of ice, teaching ow but for most advanced type teaching I wear the rebreather, and this years trip to Curacao the Inspiration wont be coming but prob next year.
