| Re: rebreather as a usual kit Not that I would want to preach to the converted, but a rebreather, OC setup, plastic bag, or long snorkel are just tools to do a job. We just happen to like these particular tools! For me, switching back to OC is possible only for shalow dives... I don't actively teach at the moment, so I only do a few OC dives, when it's warranted. I choose to dive a CCR as I think it's a great tool for the vast majority of the dives I do: Wrecks, deep wrecks, critter photography (very much in the happy snappy mode) or peaceful solo dives with lots of redundancy. 2 years ago I arrived in cavalaire to do a 60m wreck, and my Rebreather decided I would not dive..... so the club owner passed me a twin set of trimix and 2 nitrox stages. I did not noticed the islation valve between the 2 tanks...went down and realised after 10' that my pressure was 190 bars..... as I am stupid I said to me "this f......g pressure gauge is rusted...." and went on diving". I ran out of trimix at 45m (on the deck of the wreck) at the nearly end of my run time , it wa not a problem cause i ascent slowly giving pressure difference to my reg and breathing the last drops of trimix and then switched to nx40 10 m higher .... once at the 6m stop playing with my valves I realised that the islation valve was closed....(((-: ass hole !!! just to say that when ccr becomes our nearly only rig we also have make a couple of kind dives to reajust to OC diving before doing a deep dive on OC. regards jean mi
